Things used..

35 g of Psychotria viridis
6g of Peganum harmala
2 liters of Ginger ale
40 ml of vinagar for the viridis extraction, 10 for the rue extraction.
1 crock pot, 1 large pc for the final reduction

The viridis was ground to the consistancey of a whole grain wheat flour in a flour mill.

The harmala was kept whole, soked in a boiling 1:1 ratio of vinagar/water solution overnight. The solution was poured off the next day and the seeds discarded.

The viridis was placed in the crock pot the same time with 10 ml of vinagar, 500 ml of the ginger ale and alowed to soak overnight.

The viridis was then boiled lightly in the covered crock pot for 2 hours. Then it was alowed to cool and the liquid poured off into a large bowl. 10 more ml of vinagar was added to the sedement with 500 ml of Ginger Ale, boiled and the process repeated 3 more times untill the liquid was clear. The sediment was then rapidly boiled in 200 ml of distiled water for 2 min and strained.

All of the resulting liquid was slowley boiled down to aprox 200 ml, very slowly. The resulting extraction was very much like resita wine in thickness and taste, very nice! Quite drinkable.

After 24 hours of fasting and prayer the harmala was taken in a shot glass. I then took a long hot bath, very relaxing with a single candle to light the room. Music by Hamza Al Din at low volume... The effect of the harmala began 15 minutes into the bath. Tingeling fingers, slight visuals, a calm sort of energy.

In about 30 minutes I dressed into some loose fitting PJ's. Nice calming blue and only used during sacred sessions. A single piece of mysore chandan doop was lit.

The viridis was then slowley sipped over a period of 15 or 20 minutes. In silence and with no distractions, very reverantly. The first effects of the viridis where that the room I was in become "differant". It was like I was seeing it with differant eyes. Other substances may cause such things to happen but not quite like this.

I then went to bed, no nausa to speak of, within 20 minutes I could feel the first waves of the teacher passing over me.

The first waves where powerfull, my ego was totaly fighting the teacher. It was like a struggle between life and death for the ego and the teacher. The ego lost during the time of the second wave, It felt it seperate from me and saw that part of myself beat sensless and silent before the teacher. That fearless, mouthy stuborn, warrior side of myself needed that! All that was left was the "I" part of myself. It has been 6 years since my last Aya experiance, and my first not using Caapi. I very much needed to have that part of me beat to hell....

The rest of the experiance was the most powerfull ethnogenic experiance I have ever had. Very personal, very cleaning. I went there for the visions, but found something much more worthwile, this spirit is VERY old and wise. I felt like a child being taught by a very old grandfather. A mighty teacher who is in control to a point, very firm yet very kind and loving. I was given the visions at first but I told the spirit I did not come here to be entertained, that is when it revieled itself in full blinding force. My first impression was "OMG why did I say THAT!!" But in the end it was much more worthwile than a pretty light show. I reached the point a long time ago where pretty light shows are quite boaring and useless to me.

After this happened I felt the teacher become a sort of a "doctor". I felt all my negativity moving towards my stomach. It was being concentrated there, hard to explain realy. It was unnerving. I did not feel sick but I did purge and I felt "clean", hard to describe, sort of like taking a long hot bath after working all day in the hot sun. The experiance was not bad at all. I do not like throwing up anymore than anyone else, but this was not as horrible of an experiance as some may think. I have done this before with Aya, but the effects where not as profound. The rest of the experiance seemed cleaner more focused after the purge.

Anyone out there who wants to try Aya needs to be warned that this is strong medicine. It is very easy to prepare. The ingrediants are easy to come by. This is NOT something one wants to trip on if all they want is a trip. All of my experiances with it, 4 to date, have undone many years of sorrow, pain and even a few physical problems. But it literaly is the most powerfull experiance one is to have with any ethnogen. I will not go into what I have done as far as ethnogens go, as the list is very long!, but I will say that my experiances with Aya make all others pale by comparison. One needs to treat this stuff with all the revrance one might have when entering a church, mosque, or other holy place. One does not go to a holy place looking for escape and have fun. Pure DMT will not give you this experiance, been there done that. There is something else to this. One of the strange things I have noticed about Aya is that one does not lose ones sense of reality like with other things, ie. large doses of shrooms. The "wave effect" allows one to reflect on lessons learned during each wave, in a "trippy" but workable state of mind.

This was my first experiance using harmala in the brew. It does give the experiance a differant "feel". The experiance had much more of a Indo-Euopian feel to it. Not the jungle feel I got from Caapi. More Sumerian or Central Asian. Catal Hoyuk very much comes to mind. I have seen some if the images left by this culture and they very much make me think they had some experiance with a harmala/DNT mixture.

I just wanted to share this profound experiance with other seekers out there. Anyone wanting to try this should not do it alone. One also needs to follow the MOAI restrictions very seriously. 24 hours before and after the experiance may seen to be overdoing it but better safe than sorry...

Thanks for the insightful report Roo. It seems that Ayahuasca keeps "working" long after the effects have ended , does it not ? The sacred gift that keeps on giving . I agree, she may not give you what you want.....but if approached with humbleness , reverence , and sincerity.....she will give you what you need . Several years of therapy , condensed into a few hours , can really blowtorch the rust off the lamp of ones soul !

WoW!

The effects are still with me, still feel great. Hard to fully explain. Just sort of like I am swept clean. That was one hell of a tornado!

I am doing some digging on Ayahuasca healing in South America. It seems that it is realy becoming a major event down there, and up here, with a very interesting court case going on.
I can see where this experiance can do only good for those that want it.

I said once is enough the first time I did it. Then I heard Ott say to try something 3 times before you give up on it. He was right. The second time, was very scary, but the third time was the charm. I am sold on its value and I am more in reverance of its power.

Hey Roo , here's two books i think you'd really find informative and enjoy : (1) "Ayahuasca : Human Conciousness and the Spirits of Nature" edited by R. Metzner (2)"Ayahuasca Reader: Encounters with the Amazon's Sacred Vine" edited by Luis Eduardo Luna .

Ok I was digging around on my hard drive and I found this long lecture Terrance McKenna made on how he makes his brew and how he saw others make it in S. America. This is a very informative talk, almost an hour long, it was made with a tape recorder sort of in stelth I think..

Anyway, I really wanted to hear the lecture as I have never heard Mckenna speak. Your dream sounds very amazing. It gives me hope as I am waiting on the materials to arrive for my first ayahuaska experience and am very open to what I may be shown.

yep,
i've been saying this for a couple years now,
ayahuasca is the only 'drug' i've ever seen
that makes you feel great the next day
after it's worn off.
no hang-over,
the opposite in fact.
you feel great, strong, re-newed.
it's true medicine for body and soul.

Redmonk,

I posted that link a short time ago and no one seemed interested in it. Word has it that that site will not be there much longer. I have downloaded all of those files and added them to my collection. ANYONE with a GIG of harddrive space free should go get them! I have these and tons of MP3's I made from my own cds and tapes I have collected over the years. One never knows when a site is going to go down. When I find something interesting like that I take it, keep it on my harddrive and add it to my weekly backup. I have entire usenet spools tucked away from 10 years or more ago. Lots of good info, I just need time to go through it all. This is why I am happy to have a few Mycotopia CD's, thanks Hippie! One never knows what the future might bring.

Hippie,

Amen to that!!
