I am going to be taking a cross countr trip soon on an Amtrack train? Is it a bad idea to carry personal amounts of stuff on the train? Has anyone had any experience with this lately? |

A few weeks ago I took a train ride from where I live to D.C. and at no point was I the least bit nervous about being caught with what I may or may not have had with me at the time. Four green houses... One red hotel.

i have heard of drug dogs being brought on trains at various way stations, you never know- might be your bad luck to just happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time so if it were me i'd take precautions to conceal any contraband very well.

My concealment techniques involve having a bottle of water handy to wash down anything that might get caught in my throat. |

Also, when crossing borders the first thing that pops into many people's mind is airtight baggies in bottles of shampoo or lotion. If you have this idea, it's important to consider something; it's the first thing that pops into many people's mind. Don't go with the first thing that pops into your mind. Think it over a good long while and go with the last. |

that works ok unless they see you then they might pump your stomach or stick you in a cell, feed you a laxitive and give you a bucket for a toilet.

that's good advice. ever read any of the books out there on concealment techiniques ? i have a few, to help stimulate the imagination. of course being out in public like that it's alot harder. your best defense is a locked briefcase or similar. takes a court ordered search warrant to break open a lock, unlike their right to search you.

Not on the subject but, years ago I rode the train from Germany cross country to Switzerland. That was a nice ride. Beautiful freakin' country. ~Keep your feet on the ground~

A friend of mine got beat up by a cop after he swallowed his pot in a scuffle. It really pisses them off. there's a fungus among us!

i could be wrong, but i think i remember hearing once that if they catch you swallowing anything, they can put a tampering w/evidence on ya... just what i heard. "Tell me and I'll forget. Show me and I'll remember. Involve me and I'll understand." - Confucius

I've taken quantity from maine to virginia more than once 14+ hours, in nothing more than my backpack stuck up above my head on the shelf. I wouldn't worry about Amtrak. This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality. Embrace this moment. Remember. We are eternal. All this pain is an illusion.

I've always wondered why more people don't take the train cross-country around the U.S. I've done it a few times throughout Europe.. before 9/11 though. I'd be paranoid to have drugs on me, in the U.S or Europe trains now. Angels layed him away, Angels layed him away, Layed him six feet under, the clay, Angels layed him away.

I ride Amtrak frequently on the West coast, and have never seen anyone searched, or even heard of it. I don't worry at all about personal amounts. That's just me though, it never hurts to err on the side of caution. Gunga da gunga
