f'ckin computer... drivin' me nuts over here... ANYWAY, I wanted to try cloning, but was anxious about the rate of success I might have opening up a fruit in my cardboard glove box and ripping out a chunk without a suitable instrument (I am a poor broke bastard). SO, I came up with the following. If you have a number of pf jars pinning invitro, pick out a few that have are pinning the most prolifically and make up an equal number of karo jars. THEN, take your unborn cakes and karo jars into your bathroom with your crappy cardboard glovebox (actually, I've never had real problems with contams). Open up a jar, grab one of the pins and plop it into a karo jar. Remember, if you inject a pf jar with multispore, you get four different strains, one for each injection site. Pick a pin from the part of the jar where the most/best pins reside. THIS way, you get a ton of liquid innoculant that will produce fruiting strains. The pins are clean because they've only known the inside of a jar. Do a few karo jars though, because you can't really tell too much about a strain from what you see in a jar. Maybe it pins but gives all aborts. Maybe the potency is bunk. HOPE I helped someone out. Anyone wiser than myself who has something to add, please do
My name is peace, this is my hour, Can I get just a little bit of power?

you helped me out, so job well done! i always wondered how to clone.... quick Q, i was reading a cloning TEK and it said you could clone from a grown/fresh shroom my cutting out a piece from the inside of the stem (so its sterile). do you just drop a small (dime size) piece into the karo jar and it will spread? so after you drop it in the karo jar, do you wait a week until you can take spores from it and inject them? the TEK i was reading was sort-of confusing for me, because im a moron |

Zoolander, Yeah, cutting out a peice of flesh operates on the same principle. In effect, all I'm doing is skipping the step of waiting for a fully grown fruit. What you do is put your karo jar in incubation temps, wait about 5 days (or until there's a cloudy mass that takes over a good portion of the jar), then make syringes with the goo. If you've never done it, read a syringe tek first. Spores don't grow in the jar, just mycelial tissue. This way, you shoot your jars with the tissue and get immediate results. You should notice growth within 24 hours. Bacchus-- I would never! It's all I've ever had. I'm thinking of upgrading to the clear rubbermaid tub though.... oooooh.... high tek!
