Hello, here´s my cheap dessicator:

You can see it´s very small, but it holds as much as 100-150grams of fan dried shrooms.

Just put some CaCl2 (Damp-rid) or any other dessicator on the bottom. Cover it with one layer of tissue paper. Put a 2in-12V fan in the center of the container. Now hook the fan to a 3V AC adapter, so the fan will work much slower and quieter (no noise at all). Put the lid on and make sure there´s a good seal between the lid and the container, especially where the vent power cord is passing (you can use a little piece of tape).

Finally, I just keep it in a drawer. I´m sure there´s a good air flow cause I can see the tissue paper inside the container moving a little. Of course, this set up can be easily modified to acomodate larger quantities. Just use a bigger container, and hook the vent to a higher-voltage AC Adapter (up to 12V).

P.S.: CaCl2 will dissolve in the very same water it has absorbed, so make sure to use very dry CaCl2. To do that you just have to bake the CaCl2 crystals when you see the first droplets forming near it. Other option is to use CaSO4 (Drierite), once it does not turn into a liquid.

Peace

Chu

How long before the mushrooms are completely crispy dry Chu?
Some music would be nice right about now.
