I read pans only fruit around 50 deg. Is that wrong? I was wondering how you could keep humidity up and air exchange while using a fridge to fruit pan cyan casings.

Great... I hope they start pinning more abundantly for you. It's definitely a start!

It would be nice to have some more pics of Pan. Cyanescens also

I am following your grow log closely because I am in the process of growing the same species as well :-)

Success,

alas, not much more pin activity.
here's the only one which warrants a showing.

Upload

i was all set to flip the cakes onto fresh verm,
to provoke a second "flush",
when i noticed a small area of activity on the above cake.
Upload

seeing this, i've decided to leave them another couple of days.

thats really good for the tek you are using . me id throw a 60/40 poo/verm mix into a pillow case pasturize and break the others up and use them for spawn , are flat cake them ,and add 3/4th of a inch caseing layer . they will explode within a week .

funny you should say that....
my original intention for this grow had been to crumble/case,
although not with a poo mix but a peat/verm one.
i crumbled-up 12 of the jars sunday morning,
4 per plastic container and have had them incubating at 82*F.

Upload

note that i tried two different sizes of container,
in order to test for the effect of substrate depth on yield.
they were covered with their lids and,
not knowing how many holes i ought to poke in them for gas exchange,
i did 5 in the 2 taller ones and just 1 in the shallower one.

i pasteurized a 50/50 peat/verm mix yesterday,
a la roger rabbits method,
and cased this morning.
so that's 3 days of incubation.
both of the 5-holed containers have vigorously colonized,
as can be seen in the first image below,
whilst the single-holed container has shown no change from when i crumbled it.
i'm not sure if this is down to there being too little gas exchange,
so i've poked 4 more holes in the lid and re-incubated.
the other 2 containers have been cased with a very thin layer of the 50/50 mix,
just enough to conceal the substrate,
as per the tek i'm using from the archives,
and re-incubated.

ok folks.
i'm getting a little nervy.
this is new territory for me and i need your advise.
here are the three containers which i cased yesterday.

Upload
Upload
Upload

in my previous post, i neglected to mention that i'd cased the shallow container
which had not re-colonized due to having only 1 hole in the lid.
well, it's the 3rd casing image here and,
as you can see, there is growth, pretty much the same as the other two.
now, my question is this: do i patch and incubate all three for a further day,
or do i go straight to the terrarium?
boy, i hope there's someone on the boards who can help,
'cos i'm due to leave for work in 2hrs.

don't patch, i see no need.
i'd incubate another day or two.

btw, you proly would have got better results with your cakes had you put some verm on top too,
as per the DE casing tek.

get any decent prints ?

Namaste

curryshroomer,
yeah, sure is man.
correct me if i'm wrong,
but the panaeolus fruit doesn't look like it lends itself well to tissue-cloning,
so, if my casings go belly-up,
this one print may be my only chance of a further grow
without having to resort to another bought syringe.

Exactly :-)

I am totally new to mushroom growing myself but I had figured that out the same way you did

It might be possible, but it will defininetly be much more comfortable to have a print!
