They're so delicate and pretty. How potent are they compared to P. cubensis with regard to dried mass? Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly are sclerotia? As far as I can tell from a quick internet search, sclerotia are to fungi as tubers are to plants. Is that about right?

thx .
The gras seed is what you call rye gras Lolium perenne. Temp is in Celcius and yes normal potting soil.
In the last time i try some new casing substrates and fail with all. I lost all my Jalisco and some Cubes .
Here are some pics from jars with tamp. I see that onley in jars with gras seed they are form hyphal knots. I cultivate it on normal rye , here this strain produce very fast and very much sklerotia. Millet also onley produce sklerotia at the moment.

Upload
gras seed, the knots form after 2- 3 weeks !

Very very nice :-). Nice results too. Picures of shrooms you don't see so often as the other species.

Great pics . . .
again, makes me wonder if Mex A. might
benefit from a cold shock -
I've had no other luck w/ fruits using
any other method,
may as well give it a try next time
around.

Thx!

@Soliver i actually also have a Mex A Casing in the refrigerator but i dont have to much hope in fruits because there was not so much sklerotia in the jar. From all i now read it is very important that there are much sklerotia into the jar and a long coldshock is advisable. I have some really cool bags with very much sklerotia so i hope i can post the next months some Mex A pics *Dream*.

Peace,

You folks are really tempting me to order Mex A and have foaf knock up wrap and not open til christmas per a previous thread. Would love to observe his sclerotia in a few months. Morels form sclerotia prior to fruiting, hence the fascination and one of these days I will have set up for that year long cycle to gow morels indoors if it kills me. That 50 degree dominant period will prove problematic.

When I first tripped off Mex A, I swore I'd never
go back to shrooms . . . great stuff, but
I've had a bitch of a time keeping the cycle running
without any prints... the nature of my work dictates
very busy times followed by slow / very slow times,
so it's important for me to be able to mothball my
projects.

Someday I'll get into more liquid cultures and agar,
but until then I really need prints...
Still, I love the "hands off" growth of Mex A.. great stuff,
fun to watch :-)

a morel growing site I came across some time ago said that to properly fruit them you have to grow sclerotia first, then gather your sclerotia in trays and case.fruits will grow from the sclerotia so maybe gathering the mex a sclerotia then casing them in a tray would be the way to fruit them?

Yes, you have to put the sclerotia into the casing box. I think without sclerotia it will work bad or not.

I'll try that... I've seen pics of shrooms growing
off of sclerotia,
never had any luck though. Experimentation is due.

I'll get back to you all on that one...

Every attempt I've made to fruit the mex a was from colonized rye, but without the sclerotia having formed first. Every attempt has also failed shortly after the fruits begin to form. The next attempts will be from sclerotia for sure. Live and learn, then share. Very nice pictures prankster. Thank you very much!

Thank you very much rodger, you bring us the great straw logs. Anybody tried the Tampa or Mexicana on straw?
