DEHYDRATOR

Materials:
Tub with Lid
Window Screen
Small Fan (Computer Fan)
Duct Tape
Screwdriver
Sheetrock Knife

Dehydrator Materials

Cut a hole in the lid just as large as the fan blades...
Screw the fan onto the lid...
Cut out holes on the bottom for air passage...
Attach the screen to the tub allowing enough room for your mushrooms inside...
Duct tape the screen in place...

There you have it... A simple homemade dehydrator...
Dehydrator
The mushroms should be put in the dehydrator/fanner for at least 24 hours or until 90% dry... Then place in the dessicant tub to remove the remaining moisture... Marvin

DESSICANT TUB

Marerials:
Tubberware with Tight Lid
Dessicant (DampRid)
Window Screen
Another Lid

Place the second lid on the bottom of the tupperware to give room for the DampRid to liquify to...
Put a large section of screen in and add a few inches of dessicant...
Place another section of screen inside to place the mushrooms on...

Again, real easy to make... Just make sure you have a tight fitting lid and something on the bottom for the dessicant to liquify into...

Dessicator

After dehydrating/fanning for 24 hours They should be placed in here for an additional 48 hours... Then it's bone dry... Marvin

you can use any universal power supply...

like the one you have the choice of the output voltage(usually 1.5V to 12V)

you cut the ending plug of the power supply....
and you cut the plug from the computer fan...

after you select 12V on the power supply..

just join the 2 wire...and thats it!!!

here is a pic ;)

.

peace

Hey guys...

To hook the fan up is easy... Just check to see how many volts your fan is (In my case 12v DC)... Now you need to find a plug what is 12v DC and strip it down... You can hook either wire up to either side, if you did it backwards it will just not run (Switch 'em up)... Now just put a wire cap on the wires and electrical tape it up... You can buy both the fan and plug at radioshack... Fan is $12-$20 and the plug is a few bucks...

Sorry Mike I am way too paranoid to even think of doing that... It is very simple to setup and requires only common sence... You are better off buying a food dehydrator ($40) or building it yourself... If you run into any problems, just ask us...

Hey Hidra, looks great... Marvin

Well, it is pretty neat.
Have you looked at:
Archives: Fungi Forum / Misc. Noteworthy threads: The Fungusmaximus Bulk Dessicator

Another idea (from the same thread but simpler):

Hope this helps :)

Errr, that dessicator from the archives is sort of large scale... I guess this is better for people who need to dry small quantities discretely...
