Ok my cakes are all around 50% colonized here is a pic of one of them.
Now I am going to turn on my oven and make that a sterile work place, so what do I want to do? Just loosen the lids of the jars a bit and leave them like that? turn them upside down and leave them like that? or just take the tape off the top of them and shake them? somebody tell me what I should do and how I should do it so that I can speed it up. I can't believe this! I have only been incubating these jars for 6 days and I already have this! I'm telling you people 85 degrees F, is the sweet spot! |

you don't need to do anything to the lids or the tape if it's been only 6 days. Just leave them alone, they're doing fine. Don't shake them or open the lids. You can take the tape off, but you really don't need to yet. |

just let them grow.
if they stop growing, remove the tape.
otherwise, just let them be. |

So how long do you guys think it will take before I have to birth the jars? another full week maybe? How long after full colonization until I start to see some pins, these are PF and they are incubated at 85 degrees. |

I'm my experinice I say just birth a week after 100% colinization.
but with the PF race u might want to wait till u have pins in the jar then birth.

you should see pins a week after full colonization. Fanaticus puts it at 23 days, and that's usually right on the money. However, it's not necessary to wait till it pins; recommended, but not necessary. |

This is my first time growing without help. I have 24 jars and planning to grow invitro.My jars are at about 15-20% colonization one week after I innoculated. I want to speed up colonization but i have no incubator so I placed the jars in their original boxes on top of the refrigerator. I am hoping this will provide enough heat to speed things up a bit, but I don't want to overheat or dry out the jars. Has anyone tried this or have any suggestions? Thanx all. |

sounds ok to me.
another good place is a closet, if you can get a shelf fairly near a light bulb, it will heat things up nicely. |
