Hippie3, Could you re-post that simple brewing method where you just cooked for an hour with a bit of lemon juice. Do you decant the finished cooled brew to get rid of the sediment? Does that reduce potency much? |

Do you find that cold soaking before brewing makes much of a difference? |

I really want to try Ayahuasca for my first time, along with that it will be my first time brewing the stuff. I'm readily able to get the following, Mimosa Hostillis bark, Cappi Vine, and Psychotria Viridis. I've looked on the Ayahuasca website, but there is a lot of different opinions on methods and chemicals. What I really want to know is what's a good technique/recipe for a first time experience? What's the deal with the exact kind of pool cleaner/HCL to use, some say not to. |

You could use lemon juice or vinegar to acidify the water. Use purified water from a chemist. Use 500ml for ever 25-30g herbs. Cook seperately. gind herbs finely. I put 50ml vinegar in each pot per 25-30g herbs. Use minimum heat when cooking. Do two extractions of 2 or 3 hrs each. Filter through a permanent wire mesh coffee filter. Cook brews down to 100ml each. Always drink caapi sediment and drink it quickly. This is just how I do things. |

Stupid me figured out the extraction technique is identical to rue after I posted. I think I'll try lemon juice first, next HCL. After I read up on HCL more. Thanks Leprachaun I've got my material preped, I'm ready |

I'm preparing for my first ayahuasca experience as well. I think I'll use caapi and P. viridis, although I also have M. hostilis. I am having trouble finding consistent advice on dosage. I am a hard head with shrooms, but I don't know if that will carry over to aya. Any advice? |

Try maybe 40g viridis or 15g mimosa with 30g caapi. Potency varies a lot, along with the efficiency of brewing methods, so it is hard to say what that dose would do for you. It may be very potent or a dud. For starters, maybe you could try 30g caapi with your normal dose of shrooms and smoke some cigs. See my new shroomhuasca trip report. It would give you a taste of the vine the easy way. Then you could move on to DMT ayahuasca with more experience and confidence. Caapi is easier to brew than leaves, and much easier to drink. |

Wow, I'm a senior member with 227 posts! I didn't realise I had posted so much. I suppose Hippie3 must be Master Of The Universe with 40,000 posts or so. |

Thanks Lep. Most places I have seen recommend 30 grams of viridis, so I guess 40 is in range. Anyone else have an opinion? |
