I ground up 23g of caapi and sieved it for a few mins through a permanent coffee filter into a half pint jar to separate the powder from the fibres. I then ground it again and sieved again to get some more powder. I then rinsed the fibre residue (16g) with 100ml purified water to wash off more dust into the jar. I twice ground and sieved 20g of mimosa. There was only 3.9g fibre residue left which I rinsed with 50ml water. I drank the caapi, then 1 hour later the mimosa. 1.5hrs after that I was only tripping very mildly so I ate some well buttered toast and had a fairly strong dream. I tried the same method with a batch of viridis which I knew was potent but the dream was only very weak. I think it was because the leaf powder is much harder to digest and the dmt was not absorbed. Mimosa easily goes into a very fine flour when ground. Leaves have gummy/waxy stuff in them which seems to make them hard to digest and absorb. I only tried this method a few times and I am unsure of the quality of the dream it produces. I would like to hear from other dreamers who try this method. |

interesting. so you're still in pursuit of an extraction-less method. i'd try that one again but with more caapi. i suspect you have plenty of mimosa but a lack of caapi will limit the dream. |

Caapi is very fibrous so that's why there was such a large amount of residue. It is hard to reduce totally to powder. This is a method I tried a while ago but don't bother with now. It may be useful for preparing a dose in a hurry. I've started brewing with 50ml vinegar per 500ml purified water per 25-30g herbs and things are looking good. I had a great trip a few days ago with 25g caapi and 25g cabrerana, and virtually NO NAUSEA!!! I'll be tripping again tomorrow night to confirm how well it works. Vinegar is brilliant. I will never use lemon juice again. The finished brew is quite acidic BUT the sharp taste and smell of the vinegar seems to mask the tannin!!! I was trying to brew without acid to escape from the nauseating taste, but now that I have discovered vinegar I am ok. I still don't really believe that the acid makes the alkaloids water soluble. I think it just dissolves the gums off the leaves to release the dmt crystals. However it IS essential. I am so glad I am back on track now. I was getting very depressed and tearing my hair out for a long time. And wasted shitloads of valuable herbs too. But I have come through it all with a much better understanding of the brewing process, and potency which rivals my first brew. |

good to see you realized that some acid is pretty much essential. i know many like the vinegar but i can't stand the taste of it, worse than lemon juice imo. different strokes for different folks, i guess. tried the hcl method yet ? or the carbonatated cola one ? |
