I finally got a print of these, and was wanting some opinions on your preferred substrate for the spawn run.

Highflyer,
According to The Mushroom Cultivator (pgs 183-185), "This rapidly growing species fruits readily on pastuerized straw provided a thin layer of casing is applied (1/2in)..."
Spawn Run 90%+rH/ 79-84F/ 7-12days
Primorida 95%+rH/ 75-80F
Cropping 85-92%rH/75-80F
Flushes every 5-7days...
Hope this helps ya...

Reread my first post. I am mainly asking what people use for the spawn run. I know of lots of things that work, but I was just wanting some personal preferences. :-)

Birdseed works better than rye...for nice flushes.
Actually, any substrate is ok....spawn that to zoodoo, if you can get it...or just dung and verm.
Add some lime...limestone grit is great for airation. Also granular gypsum is nice.

If you dont get pins, and see what looks like overlay....use the fork technique....you will have pins in a few days then.

When they start comming, they come fast.
Mushrooms can get over 14 inches tall, so use a large container.

Something else I noticed....I get better results if I leave them in the jars for an extra 3 weeks before casing.
Sounds weird...but it works every time.

Good luck printing all those little guys...it's back breaking work!!
But, fun too:-)

Good luck!!!!!!

BJ's Recipe
5 cups vermiculite
3 cups dung
10 tablespoons of brown rice flour
2 cups water
makes 10-12 half pints

After you believe the jars have colonized, wait 5-10 days. Crumble, then case.

Another thing that works well is WBS to Coir soaked in Worm casting tea and mixed with Worm castings. Then cased.

For WBS try Amaranth, altiplano quinoa, and Millet with a little vermiculite mixed in if needed.
