Breeding info http://members.cox.net/wirykuta/breed.htm

Bufo alvarius

5-Meo DMT
Upload

Eggs are deposited in long (400 inches) ropelike strings, 7,500 to 8,000 at a time.
Upload

These eggs are being transferred from a neighbor's pool to a local toad pond.

These tadpoles were in a pond with a group of slightly older hatchlings. The little developing toad next to the tadpole is missing a hind leg.

Bufo alvarius spend most of their lives buried underground and they are very keen to the effect of the Earth's cycle and their own natural rhythm. They will not breed in captivity without the aid of injected hormone. For those interested in the induction of breeding activity by experimental means and under laboratory conditions, outside of the normal breeding season, the following paper is available for $7.00. Please send cash, check, or money order to:

Synchronicity

Phoenix, AZ 85032

Rugh, Roberts. 1962. Experimental Embryology Techniques and Procedures. 4. Induced Breeding. pp.91-103. Minneapolis, Burgess Pub. Co. - (14 pages)

Also available (for $14.00) is a Master's thesis from ASU where a young scientist induced breeding in B. alvarius so he could study its first 20 phases of development:

Hill, Willie James. 1961. The developmental pattern of the Colorado River toad (Bufo alvarius Girard) from stage one through twenty. Thesis: (M.S.)--Arizona State University, 1961--Biology. - (35 pages)

If you are successful in your breeding efforts, then you will need additional information regarding the correct "pond" water, temperature, and food for your growing tadpoles. See the excellent books by Chris Mattison such as Keeping and Breeding Amphibians, and The Care of Reptiles and Amphibians in Captivity, (especially pp.133-136.)

Looks like you're spoiling her rotten! That's a very contented looking toad.

Once a week I feed her one of these, it's her Friday night treat.
Upload
Otherwise, mealy worms and crickets. She will eat lettuce and has even popped her tongue at my fingernail when I drop food in. In time she'll probably eat from my hand.
Good link, Blowden. I remember reading that and thinking, 'That's a LOT of tadpoles!!

Pinkies! my favorite :-)
All this toad talk and link clicking I had this really weird dream last night that I had some 5-Meo and had gone to a friends house with it, having no way to measure mg I was the guinea pig......wow getting high in a dream can be soo surreal, it was like amyl nitrate kinda high, out of body like. So after I come down, the paper (?) that the rest was on catches fire and burns up and I left the room, only to return a few minutes later to find everybody wacked, we were late for work and had to leave. Dreams , weird huh?
Sweets, never thought I'd say this ,but that's one sexy toad :-)

Joe...I'll take a 3/5 of that last one.

Blowden...When I read that link a few weeks ago and saw the # of eggs I thought, 'That's a LOT of toads!!!' Even with whatever the normal attrition rate is...that's a LOT of toads!!

Voodoo...Tonight she took a meal worm from my hand so she was obviously hand fed before.

Since her bedding is made up of Repti Bark she usually snags a piece when she eats a cricket or something and spits the bark out. Tonight she wiped a piece of bark off her mouth with her front foot immediately after she ate a cricket! Pretty cool.

I'm jealous. Absolutely beautiful frog you have there. I'd like to buy one myself, but they are almost always sold out. Expensive too. Can't beat having a pet that gives benefits besides comfort and friendship though. I'm quite surprised actually at the lack of sources to obtain such an interesting amphibian.

Sweetness... "# of eggs I thought, 'That's a LOT of toads!!!"

Did you know that BB.com, is the only supplier of those toads I've found in that 9 year hunt? Someone has gotten them to reproduce, it's possible if done outdoors in a fake partially enclosed pond.
Frequently BB.com, is out of stock. One toad does produce a lot of off-spring, Bufo's live for around 30 years.

I have a toad contest idea, I have things but nothing I think anyone would play for. How about this for a contest?

"I think there was a chat about Voodoo having a gay toad. I've been looking for this toad for 9 years

You've been looking for a gay toad? Well that's just silly.

j/k"

Sweetness other unposted toad pic, I found in the trash.

Awwww. Very cute pic!

But as a contest idea...uh, you may want to rethink that theme.

But that's just me

Ya, I agree it's a tad homo-erotic. I had something post there rather funny, I thought was a funny concept however two frogs saying something, maybe not in that stance.
What would be appropriate would be to put up a toad, but I don't have a spare or any toad for that matter to give up.
