Ok, it is so slow to do every jar mixing individually as strict PF method suggests. I'm curious what formula's you guys use for doing large amounts of jars. I'm planning on doing 40 pf jars.

First off, if your doing 40 1/2 pint jars, my advice would be to do 20 pints instead. It's less expense and less freakin jars which gets to be a pain after a while. Trust me after a few years of doing this, I can't tell you how many times I've heard, "Aren't there any freaking glasses in this house?! How do I explain to my friends that they have to drink Coke out of a canning jar? Why the hell do you need three thousand jars anyway? At least get rid of these fucking rusty ass lids!!"

Apart from that, just get a huge bowl, multiply the formula per jar by 40 and go for it. Mix well

um... a friend of a friend did about 100 jars few weeks back, and he just multiplied about the formula like Karna had mentioned. He wouldn't recommend going to the pint type jar because the longer colonization times. And once you have 100 or so jars, all you need to do is keep buying new lids and rings, becomes very economical. Certainly does help tho if you have a friend to help spoon the substrate in the jars.. sure can take awhile to pressure cook them all inless you have a big PC.
Nug: You may also want to look into the hippie bulk tek found in the tek section.

Nug, I used to do a case (24) at a time. I would measure ingrediants for 8 jars
so I would only have to do 3 batches.
You do need a larger PC (22-28qt) or you could get one of those deep fry
turkey pots (about 3 feet tall) and use steam tek.
Used to take me about an hour to prep the case of jars and then another 45 min (
xtra time to make sure) to PC them all.

screw the pints, do the Quart jar thingy. I can do 14 a day (24 hour period)

In other words I can go as fast as the PC can cool...

You should use a electric mixer to mix the substrate. I did 12 jars one day without and I mixed forever. I did 12 new jars the next day and used the mixer, took only a few min. I worked so much better. I fill them to the second line of threads. Just make sure that you wipe the top real well before putting the dry verm in. I also have found that I do not like the bottom layer of verm. So I am not using that anymore and then you can get more rice in there. Never had any water damage problems.

Yeah, the bottom verm speeds things up, but you get a smaller cake naturally.

Nug, which ever you go (verm on bottom and top or just the top)
you put the mixed verm/brf/h2o in the jar till it reaches the
bottom thread. Then fill the remainder to the top with verm.
