well i guess for ranking on jareds caps..the what comes around goes around rule NAILED ME!
I HAVENT REALLY GROWN VERY MUCH IN THE LAST 5 YEARS.
SO I STARTED A FEW LITTLE TRAYS W/SLICD PFC CAKES. THE FIRST FEW CAME OUT GREAT, USING ONE OR 2 CAKES AND GETTING MINT END RESULTS.
MY PROBLEM IS THIS .. my latesttray consised of 5 quartered pfc cakes cased in both ends, wraped insyran..a week later i go to check on them today..what did i find?a smell all to familiar, and one you cant forget!the dreaded apple stank!
the wierd thing is the cakes are white.
anyways i had nothing else to do so i totally recased and rinsed the cakes.i am 90% sure this was all in vein but i hoping for the best.maybe the exposure to air in my tank will speed the myc. rate and defeat the apple stank!
any comments?

wrapping casing's unvented with suran wrap, along with being too wet, is the likely culprit. if you would have poked several holes in the suran wrap or simply layed it over the tray you may have been ok. being in the terrarium, there was really no need to put anything over the casing. you gotta be careful with that casing moisture, too much can cause problems, esp. if there is no fresh air.

I had 24 jars in stealth mode. I waited a week after shooting the jars and when I opened up the box,the jars came in, I got the apple smell. The growth was stunted, more like stalled, for the amount of time that went by. When I opened up the jars I found a stinky, mushy cream filled center. I guessed that I did not properly sterilize the substrated/jars and bacteria worked its way from the inside out. I lost 18 jars. What I learned was use less than more water in the substrate and watch the time in the PC.
