Hey all I have a real nice jar of rye thats fully colonized with plantasia mystery and the question is. Has anyone grown rye cakes invitro? if so what was the results? any tips?
Also has anyone gone invitro with plantasia? If not I definatly will try it as a experiment, but if someone can give me a reason not to, well then I won't. What do you guys think?

K-man,

Just last night my friend dunked some colonized rye, today he will stick the colonized stuff into
small jars to knit for invitro quart jar placement...

Have been discussing this on many threads lately :)
Where have you been???

:)

Dr. cubi I been burnin I guess, but how did your freind find the rye, did it hold tis structure when dunked? or did it break-apart? I have a pint jar half full of rye and I figure I'll just slap polyfill lid on it and put it in some light. I was also thinking that since it is half full I would want it to fruit only from the top of the rye so maybe taping ove the jar up to the edge of the rye. Anybody think that this would make it pin only from the top? Anyway let me know how your freinds experiment goes.!

i've dunked large rye 'cakes' and they held together fine. i don't think taping the jar around is going to stop pinning. esp. if there is any gap between the cake and the jar sides. i would think glass, being what it is, would let the light cast down all sides even with tape on the sides.

Hey K-man :)

My friend found the rye at a health food store
in bins. THink he paid... 62 cents a pound or something like that. he fills about 12 quarts per $2.50 at 1 cup per quart...

As far as the rye holding it's structure when dunked, yes it did... But he is breaking it back up to put into half pints this evening.

As for pinning only on top... Dunno, Relic is prolly right.

Hey Relic! You have experience dunking rye? Thats to cool. My friend is on his way for better or worse!

Hippie and brettie both mentioned that they have had troubles dunking grains in the past...

So my friend is a little worried about losing them. No big deal, but it would be nice if this works.

yeah, it works. they whiten right up after a 24 hr. dunk. i split one in half after dunking and found that the beneficial effects only go about 1/4" deep though. good for an extra flush though out of cakes that would otherwise be too dry to fruit.

Hmmmm

Maybe next time my friend will break up the grains before he dunks... He still has plenty of colonized stuff left, but is running out of jars!!
Never thought that would happen!

How about using Hip's vodo tek on the rye cakes?
