Hello everyone....I wanted to show you one of my experiments I have going...Let
me show you what happens when you take the Karo Tek and add Nutritional Yeast.
Both Jars are Qt. and have 2tbls of Karo. Both were inoculated with 1ml of P.F.
spores from the same syringe and keep around 80deg for 7 days. The only difference is the addition of 1/4tsp of Nutritional Yeast to one of the jars.
There is one
drawback and that is Nutritional Yeast adds a carmel color. I have done this
before and the longer you let the mycelium grow the more clear the water gets.

P.F. & Karo with and without Nutritional Yeast
The pictures don't do this justice. The
mycelium from the regular Karo jar has a very whispy cloud formation. The Karo jar
with the Nutritional Yeast has a very robust and dense mycelium and as you can
see must be 20-40 times larger. This opens up some more options like adding the
Nutritional Yeast to every substrate.
Some people might worry about contams because the solution isn't clear but for
me I have never had a problem with liquid culture or contaminated jars. The
contams for me come in after you open the jars and after you birth the cake.
Most likely the contams would be intoduced from repeated withdraws into the
syinges and not being clean.
While looking at the Nutritional breakdown
of this Yeast supplement I noticed that about 50% of the calories are from
Protien this may account for how Large, Dense and Strong the mycelium looks.
Whatever the reason the mycelium loves it!
My next experiment will be to see if
the entire growth cycle, all the way to fruiting, can be done only using
Nutritional Yeast and Verm. I really don't think the Karo is even needed in this
liquid culture. Well let me take that back...There couldn't be that much growth
on just .25tsp of Nutritional Yeast @ only 15 calories.
Anyone else willing to
experiment with this stuff would sure help to confirm or disprove my results.
Well, what do you think?

Good deal man glad to see you got the pictures up.
What was your solution ? to the error????
Not to meention the yeast idea seems like a very solid one.......

Thanks Maliki....I did a dianostic on IE and it had corrupted files...
Everyday the mycelium keeps getting noticeably bigger!
I am afraid if I take the lid off it might crawl out and get me!!!
About 8-10 months ago I grew mycelium in 3gal jugs that you make beer in with just Dextrose and it had mediocre growth so not being happy with it I opened it and dumped in some Nutritional Yeast...Well it went crazy...but when I did it I wasn't very careful and it contamed...and I had many experiments going on and sort of lost track of the idea...but here it is again! For those people that don't want to grow the accual mushroom and just the mycelium to harvest and dry this would be the way to go. And for just one easy payment of $29.95 I will show you how to do it step by step!!! LOL...Just Kidding

I have one more note: After I inject the spores I don't move the jars, I don't shake or stir them. I let all the spores mate on the bottom and connect and grow into one large mycelium. Now when it comes time to fill syinges I will shake the living hell out of it! I think they become stronger letting them grow together. And they want to do it...why would I try to stop mother nature...she has her reasons!

Dr. you're right....I do the same thing....and before I posted it I looked at it and thought--Damn that's long! LOL...I should have broken it up so it would be easier to read....But I think the pictures will make them put their reading glasses on.....if they can make it to the pics!

have you used any to inocculate a jar???.. any differences... that looks awsome... have some karo water ... might try a few with N.Y...the ingredients look awsome for growth...

sorry bout the 2nd post.. but i noticed iodine in there... hmmm sounds like a good anti-bacterial too....sweetness... my friend is gonna add add some to a few brf substrates...in different amounts.. i will post his findings for him findings when done...also my friend is gonna try a brf powdered cake spawned into wormcasing+yeast....

If you want this to be moved to the contest thread just say the word.
Love the pics and the tek.
First, hippie invitro with chronic twist.
Then, cold dunk/bleach dip tek.
We live in wonderful times folks

how much of the solution should you use to inoculate i have a few syringes i did karo style and some of them dont have as much mycelium in them as the others. Are their microscopic mycelium i dont see?

just whant to have some news about
your liquid culture with yeast nutrient experimentation?
What about the jars
you've innoculate with ?
Have you tried adding yeast nutriment
in your jars or cassing ?
What kind of yeast nutrient did you use ?
the one for beer,wine
organic one or chemical one ?
you've been using dextrose or malt ?
what's the best dosage ?
thanks a lot

Well Bill, to start off, the experiments I posted were using "Nutritional Yeast"(N.Y.) not "Yeast Nutrient" but I have used both but I havn't done as many experiments using Yeast Nutrient(bought at a beer wine making supply). I did add some yeast nutrient to my Karo,Nutritional Yeast liquid cultures and I saw what I believed to see even a little more improvement but was really hard to be sure(I can say it didn't kill them). The type of Nutritional Yeast I use is what you would find in a health store.
I have done many many many experiments using NY and I have fruited using only NY, "BUT" I will have to say I have had a hard time getting the right water content and sugar content to fruit with only NY...
The times I fruited using only NY and verm in cakes: I started the spores off in the Karo,NY liquid culture then used that to inocculate the cakes. Starting the spores off with it makes all the difference...I have tried inocculating NY cakes with regular Karo liquid culture and it doesn't work,,,well not good enough to recommend it. You will be disapointed if you try.
On a great note, Yes, I have inocculated many jars with the Karo,NY liquid culture and it works great...and went on to fruit those cultures off of compost and straw(my favorite so far).
With that said: For Liquid Culture it is fantastic! 1tbs Karo,1/4tsp Nutritional Yeast in a QT jar with bottled mineral water. Best if you inoculate your liquid culture with spores!...If you inocculate your liquid culture from another liquid culture you will see some freaky growths...Spores grow outward and round and they will be on the bottom of the jar...started with mycelium it will grow every which way throughout the liquid...will look like something from outer space...I don't recommend starting from another liquid culture!...Start with spores!...you can play with it later...if you want.
The final result: What you will get is a much more robust healthier and huge mycelium growth in your liquid culture.
I will make my final posting for Nutritional Yeast in my original posting when I have completely finished...But I haven't finished yet!
For now I only reccomend using it in liquid culture...Don't put it in your cakes or anything else!...No use in you or anyone else duplicating my mistakes.
