I find that if I help others out no matter what that I am surrounded with others that help me out. It all seems to come together like that.

Creating the habit of having regular bedtime and wake up time really helped me in school.

Myco family, please be safe. I personally know 6 people who tested positive for covid and a few others who were exposed to these positive individuals.. Luckily my lover and I tested neg following exposure through close friends.. Please continue to take the precautions..

This forum is so much more than a resource for learning to grow. I've found that I've grown much more as a person than as a grower since I've become part of this community. I enjoy all the comedy, beautiful pics, debates, the PH.D level analyses of psychology, spirituality, politics, etc.. This place is really something special! Much love to all of you who contribute(d) your time and energy to make this space what it is.. Love you all.. :)

I came across this place about ten years ago. What a cool corner of the net to find. I love this place and many of those OG members are still here, even if they are not as active. Yep I love this place and agree 100% with everything you said.

Yes Indeed, being an extreme introvert, this is one of my favorite social medicines. I need this as many of us do.

Know how you sometimes dream of people in your life? Isn't it strange to know that you're sometimes a mysterious character in the dreams of others?

-
Arathu
For sure.....sometimes you can meet up with them too....try to train yourself in lucid dreaming...it takes plenty of persistence but what fun...

I prepped some wbs yesterday. 12 hr soak, 20 min simmer. I was able to PC 7 out of 9 jars.. The remaining two jars have been waiting. Won't be able to PC them till after work. By the time I get off, they will have been sitting for about 26 hours. Can I still PC the two jars or is it to risky to use them?

-
PJammer24
If the grains have not sprouted, you can still run them with no problems... That being said, if you are using a 22-23qt cooker that holds 7 jars upright, you can actually get ten in there... You can lay three jars on their sides on top of the 7 up right ones with no ill effect...
Sep 02 2020 03:26 PM -
Arathu
I would PC them...

My lover was immediately stressed when I asked if I could pasteurize hpoo in our home lmao. She ultimately said yes because she wants me to get the best possible yield.. She's so supportive but I'll spare her having to deal with the smell.. In other news, 8 agar plates growing mycelium!

-
Coopdog
I always did a cooler pasteurization outdoors. No mess inside and once its done the manure smells like wet grass more or less. Hard to beat horse manure as a substrate in my opinion.

Thanks for the tip, Coop! May just do the cooler tek with a sous vide!

I absolutely second the pasteurization in a cooler outside. I used to just throw a pillowcase (old of course) filled with HPOO into a cooler and add heated water....monitor temp and add more hot if necessary to keep it about 165F to 170F for four or five hours....winds up smelling like whatever the horses were eating.....wife will have nothing to do with HPOO cooking on her stove...PERIOD! :-)

First attempt at agar was stressful, lol.. Spilled my first pour but successfully poured the rest okay. Was a bit clumsy using the GB.. Inoculated after giving agar time to solidify. Accidentally gouged a couple agar plates when trying to put the spores on the surface, lol. Hope at least 5 of the 8 work out.. :)

Thanks Arathu! I look forward to next time!

My friends, I want to start agar today. I got all the tools necessary, but I only have Malt Extract Agar.. Do I need to supplement the MEA with anything else to start agar work?

-
Severian
Not necessary; though additives can be helpful.

A pinch of manure if you’re doing a dung loving mush . You can grind up the or leave whole the grains you use for grainspawn.

I have a few half pint jars that have two 5/16 holes drilled in their tops.. Can they be used? Or are these holes too big? Just thinking of brf cakes or grains with them..

Ordered a few bags to fill with wbs. Forgot to order impulse sealer. Can get some cheap on offerup.. Anything I should keep in mind when trying to buy one? Like are there diff types for purposes that won't work for autoclavable bags?

-
PJammer24
If you roll the tops well and then tape them down once out of the cooker, you should be ok... The zip tie likely would serve the same purpose as the tape... You may want to try using a vac-sealer if you have one...

I use the heat sealer on my vac bag for other things but not stuff I put in the pc . I just have to keep hitting the heat seal button a few times for it to seal my needs
