Hey old heads, do any of y'all have more info about how this contamination in particular can be avoided?

 

Does it follow or hitchhike from the original spore print?

 

Can it be cleaned up or seen via agar?

 

Is it airborne?

 

I've gotten it before but usually only on one or two fruits, not an entire colony.

IME horribly persistent....I've seen and experienced it.......never seemed to cause any troubles beyond what we view yet I wonder about claims such as this.............definitely in the outdoors populations as well.

The fungi have us figured out too............ independently corroborated behavioral patterns...........simply stated "that's what I did in the past too" hahahahahahaha.............now that you mention it the Lysol wipes and spray are common to us as well.

Im not seeing rosecomb. But none the less there is abiotic disorder. That looks like vert to me as i dont see the pink sponge like growth on the gills. Anyway the link below discusses coarse of action for the more common abiotic disorders. I dont mind disease its cosmetic only most of the time. However for photography, i get it. We want beautiful specimens not diformed.

Here's a closer shot. Nothing else is doing it, even the brf cakes are pinning, I'm good. ;) I think it's the lysol.

Like I mentioned in chat, that looks like it could be a genetic mutation also. That might explain why it's effecting all of them. Maybe an allergic reaction to cats an dogs.


Sometimes when we keep things in captivity for so long things tend to change.

What is the air flow like and how moist is the substrate? It almost looks like in the last pictures that the stipe is begining to dessicate slightly?

Outdoors on ovoids with nothing but Mother Nature and the "pristine environment" we as species have so lovingly added to... ....it might just be genetic, pollution, viral, fungal, or even within the range of natural variance..... I do not have the budgeting to go down that rabbit hole personally..........

 

After all there are some pretty radical characteristic differences in cubie strains alone.....and mushrooms in general.

If that kept going it may have looked like this B+. This is the first time i seen this but i was not shocked as mushrooms never stop amazing me, both in appearance and in consumption!

New colony, rosecomb and/or mutations, did not use any lysol this time.. thoughts?

 

 

They were pressed against the walls of a much smaller sterlite, purrhaps this substrain is especially sensitive to petroleum products..

Just clean up really good after the flushes. There's nothing you can do really do...especially chemically to combat thus round if it.

I think overhumidity and rosecomb are related or one exasperates the other but ai may be wrong.

Definitely clean everything spuck and span after those projects with rosecomb finish.

But when you clean...clean your cleanings. Don't leave chemical residues like bleach, isoprop, lysol etc.

Good stuff @hyph. I am moving to a dry steam cleaning process soon, no chemicals. I only used h2o2 (5%) on this particular colony's home (sterlite). It has only shown itself on the malabar colonies, that's why it's perplexing.
