Here is some data from this source, that I think you will understand better now.

Carbon sources (sugars): https://www.ncbi.nlm...97375/table/T3/

Nitrogen sources: https://www.ncbi.nlm...97375/table/T4/

Note: Proteins are composed of C-H-O-N, and also count as a carbon source.

----

Some of my updates here, hope that helps you with more options.

Here is the easy flow process:

Material > Composition (Google it) > Soluble, Insoluble [if insoluble, can it be made soluble (reaction, enzymes)] > Absorb (mycelium absorb solubles and tiny units) > Utilize Material.

----

Lets say you are using proteins, for example gelatin instead of agar, proteins are composed of C-H-N-O, for example type II collagen: C65-H102-N18-O21.

Collagen > Protease Enzymes > Soluble Units > Absorb > Utilize.

Mycelium can utilize gelatin to produce "all" units, from cells to enzymes, thus the protein does not transfer as a protein, not entirely, it is broken down and spent as fit.

The mycelium will also re-assemble a nitrogen free carbon source, along side a carbon free nitrogen source, and on absorption, utilize both as needed.

I'm actually putting them to rest, this was a spore germination to harness some masters and was extra, so I popped it out to photograph for your pleasure.

I ate the fruits, the invito fruits taste sooooooooooooooo good.

It has been far too long fellow agar heads, so I thought that I'd throw a couple interesting shots on here to slake your thirst for rhizomorphic growth!

First shot is a pan clone that I cleaned up a touch and inoculated on 12/18. The second two are of the same "plate", china showing tomentose and killer rhizomorphic growth!

Stay tuned for both!

Here's what it looks like today:

So to recap, inoculated on 12/18/17 from agar that was inoculated with a pan clone. Shook it on 12/28/17, fully colonized as of today, 1/4/18. So ~two weeks, pretty good. I'm soaking coir/straw/buffaloam in a thermophile inoculated water bath in a cooler, will drain tomorrow and spawn.

So I recently germinated aa+ genetics and did a couple transfers and found some crazy rhizomorphic growth. Grabbed the sterile scalpel, grabbed the tiniest wisps of myc that I could, and it did this in 48hrs:

post-147940-0-38647500-1510886775.jpg

Here's it's "cousins" from my cousin wharfrat:

gallery_146391_1447_794147.jpg

From here:

https://mycotopia.ne...ubensis/page-17

Here's further back genetics of it:

post-147940-0-29498600-1477062551.jpg

So the original genetics were a gift and I kept the culture going for like 1.5 years, I let it die when I started seeing signs of senescence but I grabbed spores before it did.

So I already know that the plate that I have has great genetics, it's fast as shit, and is likely to fruit vigorously with large fruits.

Oh yeah, I saw on another thread someone mixing up "transfer" with "generation". A generation is spore to spore, the complete sexual reproductive cycle. A transfer is what one does between petris or jars, same thing goes for a clone, it should be noted because it's still part of the original mycelium's lifespan and will be susceptible to senescence at about the same time as it's original culture.

So the aforementioned agar culture is 2nd generation.

Dang C & B you have some outrageous genetics in your collection. Every grow seems to be more bad ass then the last.

THANKS!

It's really just a matter of every time that I see fast/aggressive rhizo, big fruits, or whatever, I grab tissue and I grab a print. Over and over and over and over again, it's second nature now.

Learned the print from good cluster, grow out, print from good cluster genetic isolation technique from jammer and I patterned my cloning tissue technique after peacefrog.

Over on my oyster thread I posted this. I'm putting it here to showcase what one can do with agar skills. Grab wild genetics, clean them up, put them to sub and fruit in about two months!

post-147940-0-34105300-1515711050.jpg

post-147940-0-81244500-1515711088.jpg

post-147940-0-60943000-1509823021.jpg

So I harvested these genetics from the woods, cleaned up on agar and KABLAM! they're pinning on PF cakes. Seeing pins never gets old!
