Why not just use the lc for all the jars? I know many have huge success using LC's but just because a single test jar came out clean, doesnt mean the entire lc is clean. The method i mentioned will eventually catch the contam that may be in the lc. For simple conversation lets say you draw all your LC's into 10 syringes, 1 or more could harbor a contaminate or it may not.

Honestly I don't understand why anyone makes traditional LC when one can just milk healthy colonized grain.
You do pay attention!

cats > microbes
Microbes and Mycelium will inherit the earth and cats along with humans will be long gone ;)

I'm at peace with my god, are you?

All hail Mother Earth and her dirt makers...............!!!! Humans animals and the other life forms we know are organs on the skin of a living planet sized organism...........as best as I can tell. They already own and belong to not to mention renew/run the system...............we're an expression of consciousness and experiment in free will...........we've got much to learn.......IMHO

Yes...I am trying to be at peace with the Earth to the best of my current abilities and I'll continue to strive to be better ................

So this came up on another thread and it dawned on me that it belongs here. The following pics are all from this rhizomorphic growth captured here:

post-147940-0-20018500-1478049070.jpg

It's the malabar coast that overran itself on agar. It fruited invitro and continues to surprise me. It's like it wants to fruit, if that makes sense (I know they all want to fruit but this dude seems to want it more). It's extremely aggressive and displays all sorts of unique traits. It grows a dense matting and has amazing pinsets.

post-147940-0-26915400-1490499294.jpg

So on the above shot one can see the agar wedge indicated by the red arrow, sending extremely well established mycelium all over the glass. Just like in the original agar dish, the mycelium is running over it's own myc and starting to cannibalize itself, one can see it overrunning it's own fruit body, indicated by the green arrow. It still seems to have a very well connected mycelial network, which can be seen really well between the arrows, despite it cannibalizing itself.

Here's the same shot with no graphics, just because it's so pretty!

post-147940-0-77413000-1490499767.jpg

I decided to post this just to illustrate how harnessing desired growth on agar can show itself in a very tangible way later in the grow. I bet I could get this culture to eat anything. It blues almost navy blue instantly when harvested, which leads me to believe that it contains a metric ton of psilocyin in it.

Incredible growth Cat.............that strain is very much worth hanging on to.......

Aggressive would be understating it.........and awake is probably not exaggeration.........

See folks......this is what we're talking about when we say that learning to use agar is the next level.......

Great job Cat!

Got Agar?

Today's recipe for maximum transfer-ability is:

10g oats pulverized

12g agar-agar

600ml h2o (if one were doing 10g of agar, one could do 500ml IMHO)

pinch of 'catattives' (eggshell, coir, straw, & activated carbon today)

black stain

I went with oats as the main nutrition to help expedite the jump to grain spawn, this is going to be used primarily as spore germination agar. Agar, along with 'milked' grain spawn, is my preferred inoculant for grain spawn.

Good idea. If the spore is a subsequent generation of a culture that has been cultivated on oats, and even after gene recombination, this agar would not be neccasarry. However if you have a culture that has not, its probably a good idea to do so. I absolutely would not use this for long term storage as it would most likely encourage senescence considering oats is your primary grain for spawn.

How did you prepare this oat agar?

Actually I needed fresh cultures so I dug up an old redboy print. I'm not sure what it was grown on originally. So what you're saying is that prints from cultures that have been grown on say popcorn are already better equipped to grow on popcorn than prints that say are found on bovine dung? Genetically?

To your question I weighed out the nutrition source and 'catattives' and pulverized them, put all the ingredients in a jar and kept them on the stove warming and macerating for several hours to distribute the nutrients and then 'individually dosed' jars with one ladle per from the bottom and PC'd. Left to cool overnight.

As I told my illustrious friend @microbe above, I need to wake up some fresh genetics to 'play' with. So I'm drinking a saison mixed with homemade organic limeade, smoking some maui waui sugar crumble "live resin",  eating a little molly and adderall and germinating spores onto my newly prepared agar-agar, the recipe is located above.

post-147940-0-08032700-1492057855.jpg

I submerge my agar tools in 91% isobropyl alcohol with a drop or two of h2o, the high percentage allowing it to evaporate quickly enough to do my work efficiently, and the h2o makes it more viscous which allows for greater penetration into any micro-fractures in the tools themselves, as I understand it. I use 70% to spray everything in the SAB, including the SAB itself because of the slower evaporation rate, so that those surfaces will remain sanitized a bit longer. gallery_102948_1336_453.gif

I also keep my new jars upside down so that I can lose the extra moisture right before I inoculate. The bottom of my SAB is lined with clorox or lysol wipes and I open the jars and keep them sanitized upside down.
