Hello folks,

I have been a little busy the past few weeks preparing for these projects.
I have 3 8"×8" trays for my pans.
Also, I have 4 15 qt tubs working now 3 and for my APE and the 4th one is just plain ol' P.E.s.
Working with rye for the first time with all of these tubs except my 4th tub I used and.
I used h.poo, verm, peat, and w.s., and gypsum for all of
my bulk.
Post some pics once they all colonize.

Brilliant. What's your sub depth on the pans? Plain ol PEs? You're funny.

I kept the sub for my pan trays around 1 inch. Plan on putting on a 1/4 of an inch of casing after they have colonized.
P.E.s and my A.P.E. tubs I have a little more than 3 inches of bulk for all 4 tubs.
I'm going to move my Pans into my terrarium that's filled with about 3 inches of perlite to help with the humidity.
I went ahead and bought a reptile fogger/humidifier with high hopes I can get my Pans to fruit this time.
Haven't had any luck fruiting Pans but I think I have everything right as far as my bulk goes to get these little pricks to grow. JK
I love these fruits just can't seem to get it right.
As far as my p.e.'s and ape tubs go I hope to get more fruits with each flush.
I have my fingers crossed.

Fresh air, it's all fresh air exchange. Here's the tub I used for my first successful pan grow. Micropore tape covered the holes and a fan came on 15min of every hour, misting the sides a couple times a day. Not suggesting, just saying that's what I did.

All you need is a little more than you would typically give cubes.

This is one of my Pan jars.
Made from an l.c.
Does this look normal for 3 weeks of colonizing?

Yeah. Light Blue wide mouth jars were all i could find at the time. Just opened the jar and it doesn't smell bad but nothing like cubes though.
I'm going to put it into bulk tonight anyways.
Hope I get some healthy pans.
And l.c.s to agar from now on.
Peace

Here is another pan jar that looks like some cobweb mold is working in there with some brown specks in the hair like bacteria or mold.
Going to put this jar in another place for now I guess.
And the jar in the previous post smells like dirt and not like mushrooms plus it leaves a chalk like film in the jar when I shake it.
No need to waste any bulk if I'm not 100% sure it's right and don't have to think, is this good spawn?

Good luck, man.

Really Hammer? I noticed the cotten like mycelium taking off and on top of the grains I noticed that grayish wispy looking cobweb mold that looked similar from past projects and pictures from other grows and started to get worried.
That smell from the bluish jar above I am still worried about, it just didn't have that mush smell plus the chalk like residue left behind inside the jar just tells me to toss it.
I've had good luck with l.c.s before but the last 6 or so pints I've had to toss.
Bummer

On a good note for this post is that I took a peek inside on of my Pan trays and I see the mycelium hard at work.
Ripping through my substrate at a fast pace. "Which is nice" I must say with a grin from ear to ear.

Boom! I wasn't expecting anything.
I didn't do a very good job cutting up my wheat straw the other day.
Damn it!
Pretty cool man.

From the pics, I don't see anything bad.  The wispy growth on top looks like pan mycelium.  If it's cobweb, it will turn very gray in about 48 hours.

Of course, I can only go off the pics.  If you think the jar is bad, you should get rid of it, of course.

That tray looks nice, man!

I see, the jar looks like it has spots of cotton like white mycelium working on the wbs and then the rest of the seeds looks like it has fuzzy feet growing on them. I'm still gonna hold on to it but I have it in another room and will wait a week or so to take a look.
The rest of my jars seem to moving along rather slowly it like they stop colonizing after I gave them their first shake.
I dunno, but I didn't have this problem with my pre made and sterilized rye bags.
Bummer, I'm at maybe 50 % success when it comes to wbs. If that too.
