Just for Cat and anyone else interested in this species............... Eastern U.S. (and elsewhere I'm sure) variant of the Amanita Muscaria.............they told me to make Yule ornaments that looked like them.......so I did............

Beautiful species, but I don't ingest those myself.  Too hardcore for me.

Beautiful finds Arathu, I found a few small ones this fall but it was really dry here so there wasnt many around in the dense pine thicket I find them in. I have them dried and put away but havent had the balls to try them yet..

Looks like a. muscaria var. guessowii.......yeah there are ways to eat them for culinary purposes.........a good boiling and discard of the water with a rinse then saute in butter makes a table fair some say (I have not done this myself).............caps dried cracker dry in the sunshine make for a shaman journey, or some say micro-dosing winter blues pickup, warm-up, spirit lifter, tonic (I can neither confirm nor deny that I have done this) hahahahaha..........both are eaten.................

NOTE: NOT a useful substance in conjunction with spinning machinery of any type what so ever...............concerts are probably a bad idea too...............IMHO

Wish I would have asked when I found them. I figured it was a Ananita when I found them but being yellow I just left them alone.

I will be adding them to this falls mushroom harvest......

I ate 10g of dried A. muscaria a while ago and the only thing I really felt was that life was dream-like.  Everything I saw and did just had this unreal quality to it, like I was just floating along.   No euphoria, or knowledge gained for me that time.    is pretty much how I felt on them

The alkaloid content from fruit to fruit tends to vary quite a bit.....I found the earlier summer/late spring fruits to be pretty intense........just be careful as you could/will find some that are quite potent.....IME

Again I reiterate that these are not something for the average mushroom advocate either................

What are your experiences with them Arathu?

I am not sure what an, 'average mushroom advocate' is in your opinion but I would veer more to the shaman side I would say.  Perhaps I will give them another try when I check my local hunting spots.

Right...as soon as you say "shaman side" now you're talking where I went with it. (average mushroom advocate) IMHO being the "party" types or just curious kind of young (or not so young) folks looking for a good time. (I know stereo typing and all) A. Muscaria is not a shroom for parties IMHO......... And I was not implying that you were taking things lightly either....... Just to be clear................

"Called" is the way I like to look at it..........and way more than not lately, I just say hello and give them a drink of my water....... I had a series of experiences with them where two or three sun dried caps left me drooling, stumbling around, and without a solid time reference for awhile................. it was a meeting between us for lack of any better description.......

I certainly wish you a good relationship with them.............they can be a very powerful ally but that's between you and them..........and anyone taking them lightly may very well get a good strong negative message.

For certain I have a personal relationship with these mushrooms and I encourage everyone that is even just a little curious to meditate with them and try to connect if just in feeling and intuition before ever ingesting them. (which by the way is what I call INTIMATE communication)

I think we feel the same way in regards to the mushrooms my friend, I try to be very introspective and learn what is being taught to me.  I feel like there are always lessons to learn that help us grow.

Perhaps I was just in the wrong state of mind and was expecting a cube feeling.  I appreciate all the good information thought.  I will approach them with a more open-mind next time.

One word or feeling that I personally cannot and have not correlated with a. muscaria.... (and I've worked with the yellow ones because they live right here with me) is euphoria. I do however......wish to meet with the red cousins....... a. muscaria var. muscaria.

These pictured here are a. muscaria var. guessowii..........................

It does sound as though we approach this from a similar angle and respect......... IME good deal.............. :meditate:

A funny side note...the local whitetail deer eat almost every one of these that come here now..............they leave me two or three...............

I find them pretty regularly where I'm at too.
I've always left them where they are, I may take the journey one day....
