Right on, keep on trucking! It is really cheap and usually easy to get. Ever tried straw logs?

I don't have issues implementing straw into my substrate mix. But also, I do compost it first.

It usually takes about 10 or so days in fruiting conditions for pins to emerge.  That sub looks healthy, so you should see something any day now.

Agreed, looks good! Keep in mind that straw tends to dry out fast, so don't be shy with the spray bottle after first flush IMO.

It does dry out fast but what I love about 100% straw is that you can dunk between flushes as it a solid mass :-)

Never seen a 100% straw sub make it more than 2 flushes without turning green. Prove me wrong here!

Could probably stem the mean green if one gets the soak up to pH 8. [Theory]

I have personally seen many 3-5 flushes from straight wheat straw. It used to be my bulk of chose for cubes way back when. And I never have issues with it growing oysters unless I screw something up.

Last grow that intook pics:

1st flush:

2nd:

And a monster 3rd flush:

It never turned green but that culture is usually spent after the 3rd flush, so I tossed it.

I have no pics of cubes on straw anymore, but I used to case very thick for more moisture control and could get several flushes usually without going green.

My 2 cents.

Looks sick peace! I was lucky to get even a 2nd flush when i did cubes on wheat straw, you must have a real clean lab.

I'm going to be spawning Burma this weekend. So, hopefully I will have some porn to add to this thread soon.

Last week I had some AA+ fruits, but nothing to brag about. Can't complain since they came from jars that I nocced way back in December. IMO I was lucky to get anything from jars 4 1/2 months old.

Do you see a significant drop in fruits from old jars?
