hi-

These beautiful things appeared after a rainy week next to my suburban driveway! I'm trying to identify them, the tools I've found aren't giving me a direct hit. This is the closest but not right.

Any help (especially pointing me at a good dichotomous key or other resource) would be gratefully received.

The gills bruise to a pinky colour when handled, otherwise they are very white, except for the brown skin that remains on top of the cap.

EDIT- I just found a tool that is asking different diagnostic questions so maybe I will figure it out! stay tuned.

I found a great app called FunKey put out by the Melbourne botanical gardens and got the same diagnosis as copelandia so I'm happy! I even did a spore print and it's the most beautiful green colour.

Too bad these are common and poisonous lol

I'm actually so excited about this app- it's VERY detailed in the featured that the key uses, and goes right down to the level of microscopy.  I've been looking for YEARS for a 'mushroom book' like my 'bird book'- if you see a bird in Australia, it WILL BE in the bird book.  Spiders and mushrooms- there seem to be a lot of books but they're more coffee-table oriented than actual field guides or dichotomous keys.  This app could become my 'mushroom book', if only they would do one for spiders my life would be complete :-)

Is that the app by LucidMobile? Sounds very useful but I don't want to spend unless sure it's the right one :)

Yes it seems great. Ask me anything about it if it helps.

Thanks tails,
It says it's for Australian Fungi; Any idea if that makes it wholey useless for Western Europe? Our climate is nothing like Australia ...

honestly I have  no idea.  I used it because it was  Australian.

This one looks good for EU  https://www.mycokey.com  I was trying to use it but was thrown off by the fact that it kept showing me pictures of mushies growing in DK.  My steamy subtropical climate here in AU and DK have nothing in common so I went looking for an Australian key and that's when I found FunKey.  I reckon mycokey.com looks similar, only euro-centric.
