Anybody have a simple, reliable recipe/technique for making hash? I've got almost 2 lbs. of medium-grade Northern Lights I want to turn to hash.

Dry ice hash.

https://mycotopia.ne...1-dry-ice-hash/

I have shaken hash out of trim by freezing it and shaking off the trichromes
through pantyhose.

I really suggest bubble bags for hash, they work great for sieving.

A few 5 gallon bags. You can dry sieve several ounces at a time with these.
I love traditional dry sieve hash.

I have never regretted getting the 5 gallon bags, great for personal use.

I'll get back here and show some fresh hash after the trim has dried
for a month or so.

Nice bag selection Heirloom
Have looked a some hash presses but not all that impressed
A lot of sticking to the press
I would like to created my own press for my dry ice hash
Any thoughts
BTW, the dry ice that I stored in my deep freeze did not keep.
Well it was worth a try..

Heirloom, very cool tek. Freezing the kief and sifting it through
pantyhose. When there is a will, there is a way..

I wonder if the deep freeze was frost free this could dry it out.

Thanks I won't waste the money on one of those press's.
I have thought about a car jack to compress it.

The pantyhose method- I put my cannabis in a plastic tub a butter tub
or a cool whip tub will work.

I slip on a knee high pantyhose stocking stretch it a little then tie the
hose on. Put in the freezer for 30 minutes or so then pull out and shake out.
works but bubble bags work better. I get a gram or so per shaking.

Necissity the Mother of Invention and all. I'll post a pic.

Love it
I love seeing people's " necessity " inventions.
A car jack is perfect
Years ago when we had our own cottage industry
primitive wood business, we had a cool ol press for bending
metal. Wishing we had never got rid of it. The floor Jack would probably
work better. More than enough pressure

Thanks , I got to give my wife credit for the pantyhose method.

I wonder how the commercial domestic hash is pressed.

Ha Ha just keep it away from gilligan
Your wife is brilliant.
It would be cool to see a large scale business
Production of not only hash press but edibles
but most of all, seeing a large scale grow operation

Heirloom - This is great! Then the next step is pressing it? Technique for that? You talk about using a jack = I've got the old twist bottle jack (not the pump kind bit the turn type)...will that work? I wonder if there's a size of pantyhose that would work on a 5-gallon bucket? I've just had the rear end go out on my truck, so until that's fixed, I'm not affording the bubble bags, but with 2+ lbs. of bud to process, a tupperware bowl would probably take me days...LOL Luckily, I'm starting a job w/ a local ice company who deals in regular & dry ice, so that's coverd. Question: how much dry ice is needed to process this amount? How often woulkd I change out the ice - if at all?

Fabulous video!
Thanks for sharing that
I think the cannabus industry
could create tours..
Maybe an untapped business
opportunity out of state tourism
And local market opportunity
Pirate Farmer, I'm think using a twist type Jack
Would work.
That Jack they used in the video was very cool

8 ton Jack..
Suger leaf got me thinking..
When he made the first batch where he
softly rolled frozen buds around, I got to thinking
when we harvest, we trim. If you grew specifically
to create hash, it probably be a waste of time and energy
to touch the buds except for maybe fan leaves.
Of course, my hash is made from my trim. Maybe devote a plant
to specifically making into a hash block. The one big block
was magically delishess

Thanks, Juthro! Lakegal - actually, I grew this NL for sale, but the market changed: locals now want the more sativa-high, not the indica-stone, which my NL is. So, I'm thinking hash, because, strangely, they want this as hash. Go figure, but it's up to them. So, trimmed buds is what I've got, this round. I fed the trimmings into the compost piles. If this sells, then, with 3/4 oz of seeds still left, I guess I might be changing me focus? LOL

I'ma lookin' for ghost train or maybe mile high city for my next grow. I want something sativa that'll toss them off the cliff...

I personally am a fan of Northern Lights. I bet it makes some killer hash.

Let us know how it turns out, please :)

PirateFarmer , I wouldn't stretch the pantyhose much as the sieve size
will increase letting powdered green though.

You might want to wait until you can get some bubble bags.

Northern Lights was a big favorite here.

Good luck with your next grow.

Sativa seems to be very popular I agree. I tend to like them too
My goal now is to find the perfect hybrid, my strawberry cough is a nice blend.
I think one of the parents of s.c. Is the Northern Lights
I will devote one of my 4 s.c. just for hash.
I recently ordered a aurora indica from nirvana. I wanted something
That was 100% indica. Something to knock me on my ass, help
with my chronic pain and help me sleep
I can spend hours on seed sites, reading up on all the many
strains out there
What do you all think about rosins, dabs, etc. has anyone made these?

Heirloom, Juthro: glad for your words. Yes, I'll let you know how it turns out. Can't find any Mile High City or Ghost Train seeds...guess I'll keep looking. Lakegal: Yup - I think roaming seed sites is much more fun that watching tv!

I'd really like to find a landrace or f3 generation of Sativa...I like to save my seeds on all my farm produce, and most of the current mj seem to be f1 hybrids - not stable or breed true-to-type at all. Of course, as with garden seeds, it's much more to the seed growers' advantage to produce only f1, as then, you need to return to them for proper seeds. I'd love to find a thread or article or site somewhere that discusses this.

F8ck it = I'ma start my own, right here on GrassRoots!

Was wrong about s.c. Parents
purple variety and N American and Europien
I might like checking out the seed sites ( for hours)
but am very ignorant. I didn't realize the hybrids
we're unstable. Don't know nothing about F1..
I'm definitely chatting with the big boys : )

Pirate farmer, maybe you have a gold mine of potential
sales with the NL hash market
Like you said " go figure"

I like to use freshly frozen trim - never been dried. Plant harvested wet, trimmed wet, trim frozen.

Then I make bubble hash, by hand - no drill.

125 and 73 micron bag puts out ridiculously good hash.
