Me and hens....we've had this thing going for a long time...an openly consensual combining...

This will be another that's perfect for breaking up and cooking the entire hen in one go.....fresh....

I think I spread spores around.........I go to the right places all the time,........ Half of the drums have fruited now...

I'm sure of it actually....

What a stunning array of fungus in mothers backyard. A very much enjoyed venture into the forest guided by ye ol’ mushroom wizard over the past weekend. It’s always a much appreciated pleasure hiking with Arathu to appreciate what our land has to offer. Even though rough terrain, soggy valleys, tall grass and what I found out to be Jesus brush is a day with the wizard that will not soon be forgotten.
Our hunt for the most sought after “dancing mushroom “ or Maitake was less than prosperous due to our unusually warm weather. Although you don’t have to go far on the acre to find his domesticated strains growing in abundance. Our day was rewarded with numerous patches of beautiful orange Chanterelles, believe me when I say they are a culinary delight. With some tangy spice and a food dehydrator, as chef Emeril Lagasse would say “ bam”  mushroom jerky extraordinaire.
looking forward to seeing what will be next in Arathu’s adventures in edible and medicinal mushroom growing.

As usual....it was a very enjoyable day Needles...we did see one of the Titans is fallen....

Nothing like G.frondosa to motivate the drive...the terrain is quite harsh actually, sorry about that, and the place is changing too but we just need to locate the new old tree's as the old old tree's stop producing.

I can assure you they are there....there is MUCH more territory to the place we were.....

Don't be fooled by the only chanterelle picture above....we could have picked a HUGE amount with a bit more effort....

But we picked just enough, nice mushrooms actually, to get Needles convinced they are good.....

The rest is the mushrooms showing off for us as we stumble about their neighborhood.....Geezus brush indeed....that stuff is treacherous....

Nice pictures brother! Thanks for coming.....

A dense thicket of the above that will entangle you and make you bleed, tear your clothes, and generally prompt and evoke "lord cussing"........ pretty much sums it up...

Deer can run right through it.......humans not so much.....

The beauty and splendor of nature is something I've spent my lifetime exploring in depth......These forests know me.... Skye if you come East and want to see....let me know.....I will show you

Bring good camera and batteries......and good footwear....Needles can give tips....

Definitely a good camera, I’m guessing you have one. My first journey I brought camera and lenses, flash the whole works. Now I carry a small Leica point and shoot. Plus setting up to take a shot can take extra time. So try to keep it simple with a dslr. Toting a backpack, gadget bag, walking stick ( a must have) and a ten or twenty pound bag of mushrooms though all that beautiful terrain can be a chore to say the least. Arathu said “footwear”, it’s more important than the camera. High top gortex is highly recommend. It’s all worth it and I would do it every day, real life obligations say no your not. Grasp the opportunity if it presents itself…….
