K, more than half were ready before morning on that big flush cake. Here is the harvest. Most mushies had a thin hollow core to the stem and they seem to be much shorter than most other mushies I've seen on here. Oh well, ~3gr est dry weight isn't to shabby  The middle pic is the few he left on the cake to grow some more until morning. Might add ~10 more wet grams. Once all the cakes have flushed once, he is going to dunk these, maybe DEC, depending on what the DEC's he has going a week behind these look like by then.

Yeah dudes, harvest time on #2. Forwarded your praise apokalypse, so there are a few for you in there. They were taken on a glass desk with a 7w cf light shining from underneath.

Haha nice. Those look like the SAs I've run across in my day. Skinny and tall, but short all the same. Does your friend plan on trying to isolate at all? Interesting work can be done in the agar field.

I like how you can see little spores on picture 7's stem.

Python, when you say you razor off the bottoms, do you mean out of the substrate itself? Friend of mine said that when he grew button mushrooms he would cut the stem, leaving a bit in the substrate so that it will regenerate. He says thats how they do it commercially, whereas I think it would just rot off. Don't mean to hijack the thread but is this possible?

You guys are too kind.:hippie::shy:
edit: If it wasn't for all the people here at mycotopia and the great work of all the mods and hippie3, this would have never came to fruitition. The vaults here are invaluable to a new member to the hobby. My buddy and I thank you all for the hard work and kind words! /edit

Anyhow, heres the last cake to flush of that batch. Time now for him to dunk and roll. Trip reports pending :-D

Oh yeah, the last 2 pics are of his trip spot. :meditate:

you pick, then razor off the bottoms for a clean edge like you would find at the supermarket... as far as commercial growing of agaricus/button mushrooms-----the "pickers"(thats what they do, so thats what they are called) will pick the mushrooms acording to size (small, medium, large) and razor off the bottoms and then place the fresh mushrooms in bins according to size...........then they go to packaging.......they do not leave portions of the old mushrooms....

and again, you dont have to razor the mushrooms if you dont want, its just what i like to do.........:D

Here are some pics from the beginnings of these guy's 2nd flush. They were dunked and put in fridge for ~14 hours then rolled in vermiculite. An extra pinch of verm was added to the top of each cake as well.

Also, when cracking open the tubs to fan tonight, about a dozen little black gnats were seen sitting the cakes like mini-mosquitoes. There is a pic of one that got crushed on the lid. Guess its time to hit the vaults!

That one biggun is the size of a natural strawberry (not those mutant freaks the size of pears they sell at the megamart). Even looks like one with the white dots like little seeds. Can't wait to see how that one turns out.

Might be fungus gnats. A sticky trap or two will get rid of 'em pretty quick.
