I should probably plant a 1000 too...........people ask about mine all the time...they even mention it to the greenhouse folks down the road....I have a couple examples down there right now as a teaser............I haven't checked in with them in a while.

Prolly should do that............

A couple thousand seedlings.............sweet.............

Can't wait to see an ocean of spines............

Updated progress with photos...

So the box construction is now finished. I have used acrylic which splintered and shattered like anything until we got a good system going and kept it real steady between some wooden boards and jigsawed it.

I have screwed this on the frame and sealed the outside joints with rubber sealant to keep the heat in. I will use a heat mat and place the pots raised up on some then wood so they are not in direct contact with the mat with the aim of keeping the whole box running at about 25c. The pots will be sealed up in plastic bags to retain humidity and ensure there is not moisture around the electrics.

The measurements are 135cm x 40cm so should take 50 x 7cm x 7cm pots which can easily have 50+ seeds in so totals 2,500 potential cacti. This is about what I have on order to be delivered in the next two weeks or so.

Please let me know your thoughts and comments.

Very excited to hear you are at 2,500 seeds now, can you please list some of the seeds you are planting... my curosity is killing me trying to think what you are doing. I just ordered 800 LW seeds, I am going big for some nice yote scions. I already have 75 additional LWs planted and 50 Peruvian Trichs, so I am very close to 1,000 seeds, I think I will need to get a few more of something to break that hurddle...

Best of luck to you man, looking forward to your progress!

Haha goodness know where all the mature ones will go - will cross that hurdle when it comes to it! I'm not really doing it to eat them, is more of a project.

I have got 1000 mixed lophophora although the germination rate for these were very low so the company sent me a replacement batch - I am not overly hopeful for these past about 30% germination rate. The others I have ordered are,

That's the great thing about the hobby, they don't have to be active to enjoy their beauty, I can't wait till you get them to the flowering stage in several years.... Do you plan on trying any grafting?

Hi, yes the two grafts are going well - I posted photos in your other thread. It has almost been a week now and they are holding strong.

I ordered some from uhlig which arrived very promptly although have not tried to germinate any yet. I ordered some from Moravia about 4weeks ago which still have not been dispatched but are promised to be so next week.
