Hello,
Could these jugs be used for extraction of MHRB?
I was able to round up 2 HDPE 2 gallon jugs from work today and was considering using these jugs to start my first extraction of MHRB.
I have several glass quart jars but I'm worried about them not being able to handle the chemicals.
Still reading as much as possible before I attempt this project.
Looking into buying a seperatory funnel as well.
I do have all the safety equipment and plan on using a blender and coffee grinder to make a fine powder of the shreaded root bark.
Any advice is welcome.
Thanks

A picture of my my MHRB.
I always thought it had a much dark color.
It almost has a red looking color to it.
Any help on the color from anyone with experience?

In my experience those work fine in the acid stage. I've always use glass after adding the base so I do not know how hold up after basifying. Despite everything I've read about not using glass, I have never had any issues with the chems reacting. No ectchigbor anything. I have used polypropylene lids in the base stage and the lid have warped or bubbled like they were exposed to heat or something. Well after the reaction from basing has cooled.

No real experience extracting DMT but I know ( other experience) that during the Base stage adding sodium hydroxide will result in a exothermic reaction - puts off heat a lot of heat. I read about one guy whose jar broke from heat and warping of plastic from the heat. I think the sodium hydroxide should be added slowly to prevent excessive heat.

You might be able to pick up a 1 gallon heavy glass jug at a brewing store, they use them for small batches of wine. I got my glass jug with apple cider in it and saved it.

Like to know how it goes sam

Good point Heirloom...
I read somewhere that using HDPE plastics could withstand the exothermic reaction adding a small amount at a time.
I still need to round up some more materials before I start my experiment and buy a new coffee grinder.
My coffee grinder was good for about 40 grams of powder/fine fibers.
Going to use my wife's Ninja blender when she heads out... Fingers crossed it will take beating.

I bet it can take the heat if added real slow, if it has worked for others should work for you. Do you have a link for extraction you're using? I enjoy reading extraction teks I can learn a lot from your experience. I've wanted to do a DMT extraction.

These jugs are way too big for my first extraction.
I'm going to switch a pint jar when I add some naptha in a bit or I can try and tilt the jug which are holding up well to do my extractions.

SWIM ended up using cybs' Hybrid 'Salt' tek for the first two extractions.
50g of MHRB at a time.
Believed to be a very basic tek for anyone interested in something new.

Swim said the first and third pulls looked almost like a clear liquid.
"Not bad compared to the first and latest attempt" SWIM.
The first 2 pulls are a clear/milky looking liquid inside the pyrex cooking dishes.
The last 2 pulls look more like naptha.

Still SWIM has a lot to learn.
Always interested teks someone here has had sucess with.
SWIM still has not tried to recrystalize yet it's next on the list.
Peace

love the color the bark has after being powdered. Can't see the pink purple color in the shredded bark but it really comes out when powdered.

a rite of passage. One thing I can cross of my list of things to do. Maybe again someday. I recall some fear then I thought I create my reality and the fear was gone. Much to think about, overall I think it was very positive. I may try again in the future but am in no hurry.

Nicely done Heirloom.
My buddy just picked up 2 pyrex jars.
1000 and a 500 ml ones.
A 1000 ml seperatory funnel is on the way with a nice stand to hold the funnel in place.I
I hear that the job gets done using the pyrex jars but he wants to see how his spice looks using something new.

A seperatory funnel is the way to go when doing extractions from what my friend says.
He has a few nice 1000ml funnels and a stand to work with now.
Although, his large pyrex jar does a fine job and he doesn't have to worry too much about breakage.

I've found them handy myself , especially when one wants the bottom portion of a solution. I also find a 100ml syringe I have both glass and standard plastic & a 10ml pippete handy for making ones own health supplements. I paid maybe $9 for the syringe and about $1.50 for the pipette.

good vibes

SWIM has a been having issues using the seperatory funnel.
Clogged up stopper due to the MHRB not being in powder form.
His blender can't seem to blend it into a fine powder.
Its'e stringy and a fine hair like look with very little powder.
If anybody has had experience with this issue please explain a possible solution.
He has ordered a new blade after only chopping through 100 grams of shredded MHRB.
SWIM has been sticking to his 1000ml pyrex bottle in the mean time.
The sep. funnel is where the fun of extracting begins. (So it is said)
Thanks

If you can’t get powdered of even with power I still strain the bark out of the acidic solution in the begging after a good soak and wash. T-shirt or coffee filter in a strainer. Use the sep funnel for pulling fats in your acid stage or pulling solvent after you base. If your worried about loosing any and it’s not much, do a second pull on the bark. I usually just do one but save all my bark and do a wash it again later all once. 500 gr of leftover bark will usually only get me back about 0.5gr on the second pull showing that I got most all the alkaloids out on the first run. The whole process is so much easier when you dealing with liquid instead of bark sludge. You can start to finish(Xtal) your run in 24 hrs.

Thanks for the advice, Coorsmikey...
I'm going to pass the word on.
The beginnings so much more to read about the soaking process
Stainless steel bowl, and a few more items needed if I remember correctly.
This is a cool process , dealing extraction and mhrb.
I'm focused on the mush because it's the season around these parts.
Peace
