Hello,
Could these jugs be used for extraction of MHRB?
I was able to round up 2 HDPE 2 gallon jugs from work today and was considering using these jugs to start my first extraction of MHRB.
I have several glass quart jars but I'm worried about them not being able to handle the chemicals.
Still reading as much as possible before I attempt this project.
Looking into buying a seperatory funnel as well.
I do have all the safety equipment and plan on using a blender and coffee grinder to make a fine powder of the shreaded root bark.
Any advice is welcome.
Thanks

A picture of my my MHRB.
I always thought it had a much dark color.
It almost has a red looking color to it.
Any help on the color from anyone with experience?

In my experience those work fine in the acid stage. I've always use glass after adding the base so I do not know how hold up after basifying. Despite everything I've read about not using glass, I have never had any issues with the chems reacting. No ectchigbor anything. I have used polypropylene lids in the base stage and the lid have warped or bubbled like they were exposed to heat or something. Well after the reaction from basing has cooled.

No real experience extracting DMT but I know ( other experience) that during the Base stage adding sodium hydroxide will result in a exothermic reaction - puts off heat a lot of heat. I read about one guy whose jar broke from heat and warping of plastic from the heat. I think the sodium hydroxide should be added slowly to prevent excessive heat.

You might be able to pick up a 1 gallon heavy glass jug at a brewing store, they use them for small batches of wine. I got my glass jug with apple cider in it and saved it.

Like to know how it goes sam

Good point Heirloom...
I read somewhere that using HDPE plastics could withstand the exothermic reaction adding a small amount at a time.
I still need to round up some more materials before I start my experiment and buy a new coffee grinder.
My coffee grinder was good for about 40 grams of powder/fine fibers.
Going to use my wife's Ninja blender when she heads out... Fingers crossed it will take beating.

I bet it can take the heat if added real slow, if it has worked for others should work for you. Do you have a link for extraction you're using? I enjoy reading extraction teks I can learn a lot from your experience. I've wanted to do a DMT extraction.

These jugs are way too big for my first extraction.
I'm going to switch a pint jar when I add some naptha in a bit or I can try and tilt the jug which are holding up well to do my extractions.

SWIM ended up using cybs' Hybrid 'Salt' tek for the first two extractions.
50g of MHRB at a time.
Believed to be a very basic tek for anyone interested in something new.

Swim said the first and third pulls looked almost like a clear liquid.
"Not bad compared to the first and latest attempt" SWIM.
The first 2 pulls are a clear/milky looking liquid inside the pyrex cooking dishes.
The last 2 pulls look more like naptha.

Still SWIM has a lot to learn.
Always interested teks someone here has had sucess with.
SWIM still has not tried to recrystalize yet it's next on the list.
Peace
