my friends kombucha has been busy making bababies and whatnot but we are not sure if its safe to drink. Its certainly not been a sterlie culture, shes dropped it in the sink and stuff.

Should I drop a bit of the juice on agar and see what happens? How can I help her tell if its safe?

If it's turned to vinegar it's too far gone but it's really good for hair especially if you get dry scalp.
I have a jar of juice that's over six months old. Nothing will grow on it bacteria/ fungal wise. Also I have a very old bucket of scobies( kombuch fungi) nothing grows on those either.

I've always wondered if its acids were nuetralized would it make a good antibacterial additive to agar.

Just keep the scobie and make a new mix of tea and sugar.
