Cool article, thanks!

When I see such a door I ask myself "Am I okay here in this version of reality, at this moment?"

If the answer is "Yes", then I keep waking, if not I go through.

Every time I have done this when I have seen the shimmer, my life changes in some significant way related to whatever I happen to be going through at the time.

Sometimes I walk through these when I don't see the shimmer, but then I just look like a idiot usually. ;P

I think religion is inherently arrogant. "This is the absolute truth, don't question us about it!" I was raised Catholic, because Evangelical for a bit, then threw that all away and am now a member of "I'll find out when I get there."

I don't know. I won't tell you I have it all figured out because I don't. I don't think anyone does, they just talk a game. This may be my own arrogance, but I think there's a purity in being able to admit that you don't know and that this isn't absolute.

This kind of knowing is only conceptual.  If we look at our conceptions about anything, they are precisely that; about.  The knowing that is true is the present reality.  Whatever we might think or believe about it is concept, and will always miss the mark.  I am religiously convinced about this!  Therefore, brothers and sisters, can I hear an, "I Don't Know?"   All praise the divine question mark!

I'd like to see Jesus be more accurately pictured as the middle-eastern man he was. I think we'd have some interesting arguments coming from the evangelicals of the US.

Anyone else have an opinion on why Jesus is always portrayed as a white man?

Because his followers always want to see themselves in him, and those that control the narrative in the US are... WASPY blond-haired blue-eyed white guys, despite simple logic telling you he was most likely dark-haired, brown-eyed, and rocked a wicked tan, because Middle Eastern.
Hopefully we can all see ourselves in someone like that without having to get the ethnicity mixed in, because I really don't think that's what it was about.

Creating God in our own image would be fine, once we have realized we are not, and could not be, any image.

No it isn't what it's about, but seeing as how so many whites feel their on top of the ladder it would be nice eye opener for some of them to realize there bowing to a dark skinned man. According to Jehovah those dark skinned people were more deserving than the white folk.. I'm just saying.

I think that's exactly what it's about, and your response helps prove the point.

Jesus is everyone's favorite fairytale.

If Jesus died for my sins, then how come the Judge still wants to lock me up....?

That's a valid question.

To ask it is called contempt of court..... or so I've been told....

So after doing some more reading, Jesus, was likely olive skinned, not the darker skin I imagined. Oh well, I'm still going to tell whitey he was dark just to make their eyeballs get big. :)

Someone did a mashup of Calvin and Hobbes with quotes from Dune (i.e., Calvin and Muad'dib).

The results were compelling; here's one example:

I have an idea about from whence it comes: The removal of direct experience from the equation and the insertion of a rather presumptuous middle-man (and it's always a man) between the individual and their conception of the transcendent/divine/spirit/etc. instead.

Chief and Medicine Man,
King and Popes,
President and Preacher Man,
And we're the dopes...

Follow the rules boy,
If you want to win,
Cover yourself girl,
Hide your sin...

god's and devil's,
Hiding in the gaps,
Of our understanding,
Lay their traps...

The innocent are fodder,
For the religion machine,
Grind them up finely,
To build the false dream...

Somewhere in the cold distance,
A voice whispers into the gale,
"Free your mind" it begs us,
Let not Truth be for sale.
