I've never tried to grow them.

I always get mine from the candy counter at the movie theater....

A friend of mine is growing them in croatia outdoors along with olivetrees, figues, kaki, rosmary and so on.

Its growing great in mediterranian climate.

There everybody whos owning a garden is growing them. Also in pots. The ground there is pretty loamy with high ironoxide content... red earth.

Also great for growing wine.

 

I know them fresh- very good a bit apple-like and crunchy, or they dump it into schnaps to preserve the fruits, and eat them when they´re soaken. Also the so flavoured schnaps(I think its actually brandy) is really nice.

 

These fruits are about two years in alcohol now:
