Hi everyone, just wanted to let everyone know a little about my first try at this hobby. I'm pretty much following the Magic for the Masses guide (except for the heat bomb). I'm using a seedling heating pad underneath some ceramic tile. So far so good out of 12 jars only one doesn't have growth after a week. I'll keep you guys posted.
I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas
Love my new hobby

I can’t take credit for that idea, I probably read about it somewhere on these forums.
Just saw some mycelium starting in my last jar. It’s been 9 days since inoculation.
So far so good

Have a question about the fruiting chamber. I’m using perlite and a storage tube. Should I drill holes or no holes?
I see it both ways and I’m not sure which is better.

I think I just found the answer. No holes!

3 weeks in and 5 out of 12 jars are about ready for a birthday. The others are not too far behind.
I think with the help of everyone here I’m only a few weeks away from harvest.
Thanks everyone

That's fucking awesome!

I included a no-holes method in MFTM because it is the simplest way, but if you do it then you want to be really sure to fan those babies well about four times a day.  Also, it's definitely good to get some light in there.  Does your tub let any light in?  I've had good luck replacing the lid on opaque tubs with plastic sheeting, like a piece of shower curtain.  You could also cut a hole in the lid and glue plastic over the hole to let light in.

I just birthed 5 jars and have them dunking right now.
The mushroom smell was amazing. The only thing that scared me was what looked like cobweb mold on the top of the contamination barrier. I carefully scraped it off and rinsed. The hardest part was trying to keep them under water for the dunk.

Sometimes mycelium grows into the Verm barrier. Hopefully that's all it was.

Yeah, it's common for a whispy layer to grow up through the verm barrier.  No worries.  Rinse it off well and dunk.  :)

I have pins starting on the cakes that I still have in the jars before the ones I put in the fruiting chamber!

Thanks, I should have more pics in a few days.
Half my jars took longer because I forgot to shake the syringe between holes.

I never would have gotten this far in a month if it wasn’t for the people on Mycotopia.
Thanks
I’v been growing plants of all kinds for over 20 years and I always thought growing mushrooms was way too complicated. Following the Magic for the Masses made this simple enough to get me going and now I’m hooked.

Never thought this would happen. I can’t thank you guys enough.
I woke up at 4:20 am and harvested about 40 grams. Ate 2 to celebrate: )
The cake on the bottom was a little blue so it’s dunking now
