Very nice PsyBearknot!
Looks like your raised bed garden is
on its way for a great growing season.
when seeing your top dress leaves
Reminds me of of your neighborhood
pre sacked leaves you were able to put to good use
Love to see a pix of your finished raised beds

Gigs are nice. They haven't done much outdoors zone 5 but the roots will grow back so far for a few years at a friends. I moved mone in and out and put to sleep in the basement with no fruit but a nice houseplant for a few years. Hers did really well last year after completing several hugelbeds. They grew but didnt ripen a bit fall crop. The figs are way bigger and got farther than ever. I'm sure it's the beds heat keeping them warmer. If it's the same this year I hope we can get a ripening tent or something up. She has warmer lake shore nearby than we do but I'd love to grow some more. I've only ever eaten one ripe fig from my own, a cutting of hers several year ago. Taste is out of the world if they stayed on the plant.

Dry the leaves for tea, they have been found to lower blood sugar levels. They have a very faint fig taste, very pleasant. This can be blended with other teas to mask the flavor if desired, I normally add a little lemon balm and peppermint or spearmint.

Hypoglycemic action of an oral fig-leaf decoction in type-I diabetic patients.
