what species is the cool looking little shroom in the corner ?

those are some delicate little mushies. caps remind me of a snow flake. interesting. did these just pop up in a cubie grow? ive seen somethin similar but nott exact in my compost. not sure what they are, but they do look cool. probly not so good to eat tho huh?hehe peace foster

can't find them in my id guide any clue as to what the color of the spores are?

I think they're Japenese Parasol's, an inky cap. (coprinus plicatilis)

Definately coprinus it looks like.

^^^ I was told the same thing, I had those pop up in a bag of manure before. I was told inky caps......

If not Inky Caps (cap doesn't look right) then they are closely related, prolly in the coprinus family. Very common to find in compost along with several other species.

What's neat about the mushrooms in Hip's pic is, the gills appear to be spoke like, rather than connected by cap tissue. Neat pic!

Yeah, looks like either a non-inky coprinus or a Japanese umbrella inky.

Yeah I found that same picture. I was thinking with age the japanese would curl up like that to but your seem to be quite a bit thinner. Translucent even. I definitely think it is a coprinus of some sort. Probably the non-inky type.

i also had the same translucent fragile mushrooms growing out of coir with manure under it. i picked them and they were almost weightless. :eusa_thin

Wow, I had the same thing happen to me. I too thought i was inky cap, coming from unpasturized straw or poo.

Oh yeah, they also curled up just the ones in the pick above. I would agree with the capt. on this one in being its from the coprinus family.

They also make a pill from a chemical found in some coprinuss for alcoholics called ANIBUS. Some coprinuss are edible but when you drink alcohol them make you very sick

Definately a species of Coprinus (there are tons that look similar so an exact identification is impossible).

They're the parasol..coprinus plicatilis or very closely related..
Very common round compost and lawns in the area..Sometimes I leave a tub of wet poo outside for a while just to see them, they'll pop out by the thousand and deliques quickly.Very beautiful..That pic of hips is the same species, as the cap opens further it goes translucent and then gels.. The colour varies quite a bit from off/white to grey to light cream/brown.
