Hay is usually alfalfa or grass cut while it’s still green and leafy. Hay is used as feed. Straw is what’s left over after harvest the grain it was produced for. Wheat is the most common in the US. You will often still have wheat berries left over on some of the stocks or in the bales. Most of the nutrition went to seed production. Straw is more suitable for animal bedding than as feed.
