I'm hopping on it in just a few I got 2 new plates and my best looking plate in the glove box now all sprayed with bleach water and wipes down. In about 30 min I'll be cutting into and isolating my 2 best spots of growth.

Cool. Just a tip, you don't want big chunk of agar. You want the smallest bit you can move.

I love how they grow stones before they're even colonized. It seems to happen especially with BRF.

Multispore syringe atl #7 injected on 11-6-18. Sub is my var. On hippy tek. 4 oz jar that I normally use for agar but I had little substrate left and didn't want to waste a large jar. 24 days fully collonized, with a massive stone. I think I'm gonna take my 3 small jars and hunt for stones and I'll case the sub and fruit it out for spore prints.tge one large stone is getting cloned to agar and some grain and an l.c.

With the brf most of the stones will be visible on the outside, against the glass. I'd let them go another month, the amount and size of stones will double, and the stones you have now wont be very strong.

You can case those without ever removing them from the jar. The stones will continue to grow, and you'll get new ones in the casing as the fruits grow.

I'd doubt youll get enough for a good dose from all 3 jars right now.

So after spawning a month ago, I essentially got lazy and left my shoe boxes be. The mycelium looked so strange I didn't know if I had just transferred a contam or it was actually stones.

Welllll, stones started to grow in the coir on one of them, towards the surface. And I have one stem with no cap.

Furthermore a bunch of metabolites and liquid found themselves to the surface for some reason, where the other two shoe boxes did not.

I ate one of the stones and it was a mild mushroom like flavor and then suddenly my cheeks burst into sour I had a hard time getting rid of. I'm wondering if that was bacterial? Is that supposed to happen?

Honestly I'm not sure what to do with them at this point. Maybe case and put into fruiting conditions? Leave alone? Mop up the wet spot and leave alone? Case and seal back up?

Stones leave a sour metallic taste in the mouth, nothing unusual there.

Case with 60/40 jiffy mix and verm and put into the FC. You'll have pins within 7 to 10 days...maybe a bit longer

Can I get away with straight verm?

It's what I have on hand. How thick should I make it?

If they don't pin while closed up, is there any chance of them fruiting? I spawned 1 month ago, and the only sign of fruits is that one capless one across three trays.

I'm not sure about straight verm, but sub should be 1.5 to 2 in. You can get away with thicker but it's better not to, then the casing no more than 1/4 inch.

If you're talking about invitro pinning, it rarely happens. None of any of my mexicanas did, they actually took a min of 12 to 14 days to see the first pin after casing, then they start popping up like crazy.

I have some cactus mix and some other soil mix I can put with the verm. Do I pasteurize the mixture?

Edit: Wait, jiffy mix as in https://site.jiffymix.com/!?

Edit Edit: ha, nevermind - still waking up.

Yes, you're supposed to pastuerize the mix, but I always just microwave for 5 to 7 minutes and that works for me.

After you apply it, spray the casing until it's just about muddy. I dont know why, but as the casing turns from muddy to slightly dry is when the pins pop up for me.

I am getting it to field capacity before I pasteurize it?

Thank you! Cased!

I used potting soil and verm - more potting soil then verm aiming for the recommended 60-40, but not measured strictly. I got it to field capacity than pasteurized in oven for 5 hours at 170f (it's as low as the oven goes) in a sealed bag. Cased my four shoeboxes with it and sprayed the shit out of it. The substrate was already so dry it was cracking in one so I misted them all before putting it down.

I have dub tubs (one shoebox overturned on another) no drilled holes or gaps, but  they're loose so it's not like a seal. Do I just mist and fan twice a day like cubes?

I'm not the best person to ask...

Every method I use is set and forget. I use a Martha.

But I'd think that's about right.
