I know! Crazy to me. But, like I said it could have just been the ones I grew.

I'm going for a grow strictly for extract purposes.

And science, of course   :)

That mad trip I had was fresh from the jar - I'm not sure how much I took (before cheap gram scales) but it was worth repeating ... except for the naked wandering part, and even that was sorta funny .. I was laughing at myself the whole time.

:)

I made agar following the proportions laid out in CatsAndBats Democratizes Agar (10g nutrient, 10g agar, 500ml water), using malt extract (DME) as my nutrients. After PCing for 30min at 15psi, I let cool and poured into plastic petri dishes in a still air box (SAB). I proceeded to inoculate 11 petri dishes with a spore print of Psilocybe mexicana var. tampanensis purchased from an online spore vendor. I then used Parafilm to seal the edges, attempting to protect against outside contams.

I made several mistakes along the way. The biggest one was that I let the agar cool too long and it solidified in the graduated cylinder. When I discovered this, I was already pouring and decided not to heat it back up in hot water. This may have been a mistake, but 11 plates (petri dishes) was good enough for me. I was frustrated and as a result may have been sloppier in my cleanliness.

The other big red flag is that this lot of petri dishes may be totally contaminated. I didn't realize the only roll I had left was the one I actually cut into the packaging of when ordering petri dishes way back. I had sealed it with some cling wrap soon after, but we'll see... All I need is one plate to be semi clean and I'm back running.

My spore syringe should arrive any day now, then I'll be in the mix  ....

I'll be making some LC and then MS jars - I'm not studly enough yet to move on the agar front.

After you scraped your print do you slice the spores into the agar?

I only ask because I have always left the spores sitting on the agar surface and I’m wondering if that has something to do with my poor germination rates?

I usually cut into the agar on spores

It’s how I learned so have always done it

I would believe that would give the spore the maximum contact with the moist agar medium to where if they just land on the surface then only one side has contact

Partial print to trade or share

Condition of print

Original owner pink
Original print cut in haf
Sent print to Bear
Print was unpackaged in glovebox to reveal one full Print
User in glovebox seven scrapes were made
Although light there are still spores left

Ideally I would like to trade with a. VIP member for another stone producer
If in one week no trade with VIP will open up two gift to any VIP who wishes to join with this thread

All I ask is that you have the skill to transfer spore to agar and that you will participate in the thread

These are my best so far. Had a few jars like this. A few more of putrid goop too :)

galindoi on spelt grain. From a spore vial from the neatherlands.

I've got some galindoi and a Mexican one who's name I don't have to hand on agar just now.

My plates aren't looking too hot, but we shall see. I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow.

Any tips in how to photograph petri dishes?
