I'm not looking for fat ass plants or anything like that yet, I just love growing.
I know these could produce 10 times more if I had a light system, but for just hanging out in my south facing window these look happy. If I can end up getting a decent CFL before flowering I will be moving them to that, but for now since I don't have a light setup, they seem happy.
I welcome recommendations but remember, I am a broke fool without a job, so what can be gotten is limited.

yum.jpg

Started from seed.
Age: 4 weeks
Strain: Unknown
Phenotype: Looks to be hybrid with indica traits based on leaf structure and width.
Soil: Straight potting soil without any fert in it.
Fert: 5-2-2 fish emulsion
Light: Natural sunlight.

Looks to be 4 of them in that pot?

When they start to stretch while flowering, things are going to get crazy with them so close together.

Growing anything and watching it thrive is rewarding!! Odds are, when you sex them, things will become a little less congested...

Good luck!!

Enjoy!

They actually are doing better than I would have expected for window lighting.

@PJ,
Yes, there are 4, I have a way to deal with congestion if all turn out female.
I can still bind new stem, and limb growth.

I been feeding them fish emulsion every other watering, I am very happy with the way they look for just window lighting and only 4 weeks of age. I'm thinking another 2 - 3, maybe 4 weeks I should see where they are and go from there.
Not that it's a killer grow or anything but I'll post updates just to show what growing in a south facing window can do.

Fish emulsion!! One of the best outdoor grows i have had involved going to a drained pond down the street, which was teaming with pan fish when I was growing up... Every time you stuck your hook in the water you pulled out a small bluegill. It was purchased by a new owner and drained with the fish left to die. Several years later, after the fish had decayed, I took several trips to the the former pond on the ATV and harvested as much of the soil as possible to use as part of my growing medium...

Not quite fish emulsion, but I like fish!!

Between the fish who had been left to decay and the matter excreted from the fish when they were alive, it made a fantastic addition to the soil.

My fear was that it would make the soil too hot so I used it judiciously... I may have been a little conservative but the result was excellent none the less...

I dream of a full aquaponics system filled with pet fish feeding a hydroponics system. I think it would be great to be farming fish and plants symbiotically!!

YES!!! fish are cool!! I like them!

Wow!!!!
So I was thinking it would be another week or so before I hit primordia but I woke up yesterday to see this !!!!!!

Males are gone and now I have 2 lovely ladies growing.
I'm looking at 8-10 weeks before harvest.
Not much to look at now but I know they will be beautiful within no time.

You may notice that they'll veg beautifully in ambient room lighting.

When the buds begin to form they will be sparse and stretchy.

If you can manage to get them some extra lighting they may fill in and bush up nicely.

I've done something similar recently and can snap a photo of the progress if you like.

@Myc, sorry for the late response but sure....I'd love to see a photo.

This isn't the first time I've grown in south facing windows. They get a solid 8-10 hours of sun.
I'd like to get a CFL to up the light they already get but I'm not sure the best wattage to get. I am looking also at lumens and kelvins that would be best for these cuties. I am growing on a very slim budget and gotta make due with what I can afford to get.

Cool. I was just trying to spare you some (possible) disappointment. But since you've done this in the past, you know what to expect - within reason.

There are two plants featured in the photo.

Champagne Kush clones were placed in a window around April this year. On a whim, I decided to move them from the sunroom to the flower room late June to see what would happen. The clones spent roughly 90 days "vegging".

The photos are the results of roughly 60 days of 12/12 @ 400 watts HPS.

Once introduced to stronger lighting, the plants seemed to really fill in. The buds have overwhelmed the structural ability of the mainstem and are beginning to lie down. You may also notice that this plant has a large amount of leaves - and a lot of "singles" ...... but the buds are getting enormous and the smell is overpowering the carbon filter.

I get what you mean about budget and lighting. Wish I had a recommendation. Perhaps look into LED High-Bay/Low-Bay lighting applications?

The fixtures are still kinda pricey - starting at $90 and up from there.

2 weeks into flowering.
They don't look bad at all. 1 seems to take on sativa traits as the other seems to have more indica trait.
It's not much but, I ain't gonna complain one bit, I love watching them grow.

They have performed much better than I would have expected them to. This is basically free smoke, and with prices like that, it's a dream.

Arrrghhh!!!!!
I have found spider mites some how those little fuckers found their way into my stuff.
I DO NOT want chemical pesticides, I am looking for good home remedies for excising these little fucks from my sweet girls.
There's nothing to isolate them from so that makes it all the more insane on how they got on my plants.
I thought this may work......
1 gallon of water with 2 tbs. of dish detergent
1 tbs. of vegetable oil.
Mix well or put the ingredients in a gallon jug and shake it up. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle, then add 1 tsp. of rubbing alcohol. Shake it again and immediately use it.
Opinions or suggestions?

The best you'll ever manage is regulation of populations.

I wish I had something more productive to add.

Bummer.

1 month into flowering. I have gotten the spider mites under control and I am actually rather happy with the way they are looking for just being in a south facing window, I did find out that I am growing Grape God.

They're getting there,

Trying out lollipopping, just for the fuck of it, for the last part of my girls flowering period. They certainly look a lot different from a week and a half ago. Down to the last 2 - 3 weeks, gettin' closer !!!

I think they is about ready. 70% of calyxes have turned amber and the trichomes are milky opaque. But I think they might be within a week from harvest, what y'all think?
