I said my goodbye's to my sweet dog Madison today.

After 6 weeks of steady decline, with the last week consisting of constant coaxing just to try to get her to eat anything, or drink at all, we had to give up today.

We tried everything, but all tests had been coming back normal, so the doctor and we were at a complete loss as to why she was wasting away and refusing everything, like she forgot how to eat or drink.

The strain on us all has been huge, and although I did not want to lose yet another dog so soon after the last two, none of us could continue as we have been going.

The final test for renal shut down came back normal, leading our vet to the only organ we could not test, the brain. She had a cancerous tumor in one eye, that we had to remove when she was about four, and he remembered that. We believe there was a cancer in the brain, shutting down functions and behaviors one by one, that was progressing rapidly.

She was a sweet and shy dog, who adjusted to things well over her 10 year life.

I'm going to miss her.......................

I just can’t say anything that would do anything. Loss is so hard to reconcile, especially when it’s family. I feel so deeply for our four legged family members because their love and devotion is more perfect than any love I can give in return. Each moment is truly a blessing. I hope you have the healing you and your family need at this time.

Awww man...damn. BIg hug for ya brother and you  hang in there. Prayers and healing energy coming from us to you and yours. You have had a lot of loss and it seems sometimes it just happens that way. The last couple of years have been a rough ride for us too. Much love brother. I know this hurts clear to the soul.

That is a hard loss....not many times in life we get to enjoy unconditional love....so true it is. My thoughts are with you in this time of sorrow.

I'm sorry for your loss of good friend. Losing any one who means so much in your life is very difficult. I have a 14 year old mini dachshund and an 18 year old cat and old age has taken a toll on them.

Having friends to share our grief makes these occurrences a little more bearable.

Its been about a month now, and it still feels like yesterday....................

Thank you to you all, for all the kind wishes, and understanding.

During all of this, my adopted cat Binx was wasting away. He was finally diagnosed with a mutated form of coronavirus, which is not treatable and will become fatal. We had a huge amount of fluid drained from around his heart and lungs, but it was not helping.

I was ready to put him down because he could hardly get up. I held him for what I thought was probably the last time, and told him I was sorry, but at least he had three years in a loving home which he would not have had if I had not rescued him. I also said I would do almost anything to make him better.

The next morning he came out all on his own to eat, and he did. He has steadily improved and is not breathing so labored again now. I don't know how long this will last, but any extra time with him feeling better and gaining some weight back again is welcome.

I really needed some kind of turn for the better. at least for a while.
