That's really cool!
I think so :) If you like those you should check out some top lit, up draft gasifier stoves (TLUD). They don't have a lot of heat control, and only run wide open. So they are best for heating water, or frying food. You don't get a simmer setting on these guys.
This is the kind I've got, it's a cheap Chinese unit, but it works well, and again it is pretty damn cheap. Less then $20 for the stove, and for another $20ish you can get the MSR 775ml stowaway pot that the stove nests in perfectly. I like to use mine with wood fuel pellets, they burn hotter, cleaner, and longer then sticks. 1/4 to 1/2 cup of pellets is plenty enough to sterilize a couple of cups water for drinking, to make some soup, or to rehydrate a meal.
At 1.5 to 2 cups of pellets (about all it will hold) your going to get over an hour of burn time. This is nice if your heating a larger quantity of water to do dishes, or to clean up. A coffee can full of pellets will last you a quite awhile, and it does burn other bio-mass as well (twigs, pine cones, even dehydrated rabbit dung). This works fine, though burn time per load is less, and it will soot up your pots a bit more, but it is still cleaner then cooking directly over a fire.
