Hello all!

Sooo..... I am new to this hobby and would like some input/advice.

I have a grow kit coming but am now looking into strain selection for my first grow.

What is a good recommended strain to do for the new grower?

I am currently leaning toward the "Golden Teacher Psilocybe Cubensis" from spores101. Would this be a good strain to start with???

And approximately how long from inoculation does it take to completely finish?

Whatever strain catches your eye! Golden Teacher is a good choice. Its more about genetics than the strain name. Well domesticated strains may be more reliable.

have you ever grown them?

How long does the grow take on average?

Teachers are a good suggestion... You may want to consider B+... The oldies but goodies are the way to go.

Spores101 dose have both types they are only like 12.00 each so getting two is not a big deal.... Would I be able to inoculate 3 jars with one type,  and 3 jars with another... and grow them both together?

Can I store syringes after they have been used for inoculation?

Sure. With a steady hand you can get 10 jars out of a syringe. I'm not that steady, but 6 to 8 per syringe is pretty easy.

With 3 jars and 4 holes in each lid for inoculation how much do I put in each hole? 1cc per hole, for 4cc (ish) per jar?

Just the smallest drop you can. 1cc per jar is enough, but it takes some practice to get the hang of it. Helped me to hold the jar so I can see the tip of the needle against the glass, press slow, stop as soon as I see moisture hit the substrate.

Makes seance.... Thanks!

Kind of a less is more situation? Or if you put more in you get more? Or is their no real benefit to adding more spores?

No particular benefit with spores. Doesn't really hurt either. I've done a bunch with 1cc per hole, but actually those were all with very diluted home made syringes. Clear syringes, not dark spore laden syringes you get from some vendors. Meaning that even though it was more solution, probably less spores.

Say your growing GT... What kind of dry weight would you get off of one inoculated jar?

I know their are allot of factors to consider but what is the average for an "OK" grow?

4-8 grams dry?

Minimum 3 to 4 g. Per flush. Not hard to an average of 14g per cake.

I will be fruiting 6 cakes, so if I get even 2 dry grams per cake for my first grow I will be happy LOL....

Shit even if I get 4 dry grams I will be happy!!!  :tinfoil:  :tinfoil:

They have finally arrived... I ordered 2 and got 2 additional strains!!!!

So.... The syringes showed up today and due to the cold weather they look to be frozen.

Is freezing an issue? They were not froze solid just slight/starting to freeze. Is this going to be an issue???

They should still be viable. I've syringes freeze in the mailbox and work just fine. But on the other hand, I've had them sit in the mailbox for days because I didn't know they were coming, those ones weren't any good.

Awesome... I am sure they are ok then... They didn't freeze solid.

How long can I keep them in a fridge? Some stuff in life has come up and I don't know if i will be able to start the grow right away.

Life has been so busy.

So, I did not get to inoculating the jars in the Mid West  Grow kit I got.

They have been sitting for a couple months now, and I was wondering.... What do I need to do to be able to use them??

Or, are they good to go and I can proceed with inoculation??

Note: They are sealed from Mid West and I have not opened them. If that makes a diff.
