Yeah, I didn't even notice how small the cake was, that is a good flush for 1/4 pt, ive only made 2 1/4pt cakes from extra brf after filling 1/2s, and they both produced like three mid-sized fruits for two flushes, then they both started aborting pins, maybe something I did wrong, but not as nice as that flush.

 Nice work!

How often should I shake my popcorn jars?! I’ve been shaking almost daily and see no mycelium. Wondering if I’m shaking them way too often? My PF tek jars are looking pretty good! Will post a pic when I get a chance.

I’d give them a breather till you start getting good growth.

Yeah, most people have suggested to me to not shake p-corn at all, or wait until it's 30-70% to shake, which is what I did, I bet if you let em sit for a few days you'llstart seeing em grow, they might just need a chance to take hold.

How long has it been since you inocced em?

Let it get to around 30% colonized and shake it. Then let it colonize again and shake it.

Shake only once at 15 to 30%, that's it.

If you use LC, you shake once more at innoculation, that's all.

Shaking every day means no chance for recovery, they'll never grow.

It’s only been 5 days. Hopefully I didn’t ruin them. I will just let it sit for a while now and see if there’s a recovery.

I have some from the 20th and only 1 has a small spot on it. Really small. But thats a lot of shaking. U want to right after U inoculate. But wait a couple weeks to shake again.

Some people say not to shake after inoculation IF using a spore syringe(ms) because you want two(at least) spores to find each other right after germinating, shaking disperses the spores making it harder for the mycelial strands to meet up(probably still works if shaken, but wait till it's like 30% to shake after growth appears.

If using lliquid culture(LC), the myc is alive already, so shaking is a good thing, as it makes more innoc points by spreading the myc around.

Yup, Bill is right. Shaking with spores makes things take longer bc the 2 spores have to spend time searching and reaching for each other in order to germinate. I have tried both ways for experimentation and shaking at innoculation with spores adds at least 5 days to the process.

With LC, everything is already germinated, so you can and should shake away in the beginning.

Progress on the 1/2 pints and 1/4 pint! Definitely colonizing well. At least I’ll have these while I experiment/screw up my bulk.

3 out of 4 have fuzz! Even though I shook them vigorously several times. They’re only 10 days in.

Looks weird. Contaminated or normal second flush mycelium?

Either way you'll know within 12 hrs.

If its trich it will be green by then.

If it's not, that should start pinning.

Definitely trich. Out it goes! Sucks that I only got 1 flush from my first cake, but at least it was just that...1 cake!
