I have a thread going titled 3 species in all-in-one grow bags, and if you follow it you can see my smallest casing of the Pan Tropicalis has produced a beautiful set of pins, but they don't look anything like any other Tropicalis pins I have seen online. This is my first try at any Pan species.

All the examples show pins that have brown caps, and are not white until full maturation. Can someone give me their thoughts?

The spores are from Sporeworks, so I am seriously confused. Has anybody else seen pins like these? Maybe they are a contamination that fruited? I dunno but the look of these is seriously freaking me out.

Maybe they are a contamination that fruited?

Sorry, I can't give an answer other than they don't look like pics I've seen of pan pins at all, but I have been interested in finding out if anyone has had loose spores from previous grows contaminate their agar or grains or anything.

The area where I do my SAB stuff surely has spores floating around the environment from my fruiting room & drying racks, which are all in the same space, especially since I was letting a lot of fruits mature and drop spores(lazy) to the point that I've had black shit get on my clothes from brushing up against the wall behind my FCs.

Is there a possibility that you contammed something, or were you saying there might have been the wrong species altogether in the syringe with the pan spores?

If you look at the spores on a slide under a microscope and see two different forms, like color, shape, size, let Sporeworx know, or just tell them you checked and they don't look like pan trops spores under magnification.

What do the mushers look like at full maturity? IDK if a lot of spores from diff species look the same or what, this is really interesting to me.

Your guess is as good as mine...

I am very confident the syringe and spawn were good. The spawn looked how it was supposed to.

When I cased it, however, I did it in my growroom in open air, which is how I always apply my casings. Never had a contamination this way, but what else can these be? They dont look anything like they're supposed to, but theyre def not cubes either.

I am so confused. If I can get them to print, I'll send some out. Hopefully one of you have a good microscope.

Here is how they look today. The larger tray made from the same 3lb bag of spawn has started pinning with the same ghostly looking pins. At least the pinset is nice and even...LOL.

Can someone please tell me what I am growing?

I took the Sandoze trays out of the Martha, and I had to drain a bunch of water that was under the sub. I put it on the bottom rack which should help dry them out, too. Other than that they looked healthy, and I expect them to take off now that all that excess water is gone.

Odd. But other than color, doesn't look that different than pans. Maybe you hit the genetic jackpot and got an albino.

Here they are today. Either the small tray is super slow, or the caps are never going to develop. I am going to let them mature until I know for sure they're done.

The big tray is still getting new pins every day. If I were confident these were all Pans, I would be ecstatic. However, I am scared to eat any.

Maybe after I pick the first flush I will see some blueing, which will ease my concerns a bit.

Seriously though, nobody has grown anything similar to these? Should I be scared to try them?

I was gonna say the same, try em if there's any blue, why would there be poisonous shroom spores in a bag or syringe?Or do you think some wild species' spores could've gotten in and germinated?

Iv'e had a few mutated cube fruits that had those lil caps like that, they eventually dropped tiny spore messes around their base.

Yeah I know that they're most likely just malformed, not a random contam, but still, eating a mushroom without a 100% ID just makes me nervous ya know?

I'm going to pick the small tray tonight, I'll post some pics.

Or maybe you've got some tasty gourmet enoki mushrooms, LOL.

Those are actually pretty close lol.

If these turn out to be active I'll be ecstatic. Not many people get this much material first try, even if they're funny looking.

I think it would be strange for ms to produce all the same genetic mutationin all the fruits, would it not?

Yes it would be.

I'm thinking maybe it was too moist or dry at some point when they were small pins or during maturation.

That would account for all of them looking funny, but I am still not sure.

I'll take pics when I harvest, maybe the caps have opened a bit.

I think a sheet of tiny prints would be like a piece of mycological art lol. If you grew the spores out and they all grew the mutated, tiny-capped shrooms, that would be something special.

I harvested the smaller tray. Some of them did have open caps that might have printed, but I didnt try. Hopefully they blue a bit when drying.

I could've sworn I posted about finding a similar looking Pan Australia grow. White fruits with the tiny white caps that barely open...

Anyways, I harvested and dried the shrooms from the small tray...there was ZERO bluing. I'm scared to take em even more so now.

What size dose does one normally take to get a lvl 2 trip?

I'm thinking of eating half a gram, and having poison control on speed dial lol. Does this sound like a good or bad idea?

Worst case scenario, can anyone think of a poisonous mushroom that looks like these? If they happen to be poisonous, would eating only a half g do me harm?

Please dont make fun of me I know I am being paranoid, but this is my body we are talking about.

I don't know if a poisonous look alike off hand. Not one of the well known deadlies for sure. I don't think anything is poisonous enough for half a gram to be dangerous.

I finally harvested the big tray today. I let it go as long as possible. The small try is pinning again.

Have yet to sample them.
