So my recent trip to the zoo yeilded a great find for me(Lions mane) and it inspired me to go out forging today this is my finds. I believe one is turkey tail and I think another is an oyster but I'm taking prints of them all and took 2 samples of each one to spore and one to tissue clone.

Another find on way home after work. Hoping for spores to drop from 2 and I'll take a tissue clone in an hour or in the am before work. It's been nice hunting really happy about the oysters and the Lions mane

So the wild oyster I found I took home to print I got some good white spores but when I removed the dome I found it fuzzing all over and I decided to throw it on some pasturized cardboard with oak chips. The Lions mane from the zoo which ive taken agar samples, I have another large piece of the fruit awaiting cardboard and apple chips where I found it growing on an apple tree. More photos as they happen

Quick update check out the growth of this wild Brown oyster after 4 days from harvest and 2 days with hard wood you can see where the fruit body including the gills have started to revert to a mycelium mass and that it's growing rapidly so fucking excited. I'm in the middle of doing some other with other the other wilds I found. The turkey tail and hen of the woods didn't drop spores but they have decided to start fuzzing up too so mixed in they're own small jars to save me save but I'll get pix in next post

Well the turkey and hen don't get large totes or even pints they get 4oz jars but funds space And equipment is limited so doing what I can with what I got. One Lions mane plate is growing out nice but is DIRTY! So pouring agar ATM for isolation in the am. My agar of brown oyster seems clean though so good there man it's nice to have some wild stuff to work with nature always provides

Here is the Lions mane from wild that grew out the cleanest, I've isloated it twice from the n.e. closer to center of the plate but better the mold. The 2 look clean and have started to grow out.

This is not the brown oyster that I also have expanding on wood chips but who doesn't love agar work and clean up stuff!! So although I have a print and I have the 2 mushrooms expanding to hardwoods, I also took 2 samples on agar the other jar is just a bitch to photo.i know my Mason jars for agar might not be the proper way but 4 of the flat half pints can be had at $5 and reusable petidishes are $18 eat and I need the tape. With my Mason jars I can just keep reusing them

No real progress with turkey tail, hen, or the Lions mane island I'm making with hardwood chips but when available photos will follow

So here comes some updates to keep the confusion down to a minimum I will be separating my posts my strains so photos of what all look the same can be seen for who they are, first up is the brown oyster from my neighborhood. I've taken it from one tub to 2 and filled with wood chips so the plan is to dig a hole line said hole with newspaper or cardboard add my first island, add a small thin layer of mulch add the second island and top with hardwood mulch and cover with leaves. I also have some agar work photoed. The grown out plate is my first isolate the jar with little growth is a second isolate from the another plate that was trashed.

Next is Lions mane, here I didn't have luck with large amount of the fruit body growing out like the oyster mushrooms did. But I was able to get one clean isolate onto agar! That was again isolated twice(I don't have allot of agar) one plate growing clean the other is dirty. When I isloated the second two agar plates I also noc'd up 9 jars of saw dust and an l.c. I haven't photod all because there isn't much to show yet but what I have follows.
You will see the two isolates one clean and one contaminated. But over all I think I have some success here

Beautiful chicken of the woods my wife spotted in the park the other day. I snagged a sample for expansion but I've never seen the chicken here fruit this early, normally it's June into July when I find these guys. The other one I have no clue what it is but it's cute so I got a pic
