The Photography forum has been IMO a huge success. Lasting for over 3 years and accumulating 149 pages of excellent tips, superb photos, and offering an ongoing experience of learning and enjoyment for all who drop in or participate regularly.

It has been brought to my attention however that  the size of the thread and of many of the shared photos makes this challenging and time consuming to open for those using a slower connection.

The idea of starting a continuation of this thread as part 2, is to shorten the loading speed. So if everyone agrees, we will simply carry on in a new thread.

I am placing a link to the original thread Here:

https://mycotopia.ne...-and-enjoyment/

So this is a better continuation for anyone looking backwards. The plan is to pin this thread as well, so it stays easily found.

Any objections?

For my slow connection it's not that the thread is long, but a page with 20 posts with pictures it why it takes so long sometimes.  The Photography thread isn't as bad as other threads where folks post rafts of high byte images, post after post.   I have to just stay away.  The same thing happens in the threads like What Music...  where all the Y'ube starting images have to load.

My experience is like Alders, it gets slow when a page is getting close to 20 posts and many of them have large pic files.  I don't think the overall length of the thread itself slows anything down.

But I don't have any objections to starting in a new thread if it helps anyone.

No worries here :)

If nothing else, we could have a new re-start point, and preserve the vast amount of knowledge, advice, and superb photos that are a pleasure to just look at.

CRAP!!  That wasn't the sunrise pic I wanted to share, that's an old one.  I've got to go into town right now, but I'll try and fix it later.

Screw it, no sunrise for you!!  (A.K.A. I screwed it up in editing, and am too frustrated and lazy to fix it right now)

But you can have a consolation prize of another moose pic, this time she brought junior out of hiding to graze along the edge of the lake.

So then is it really going to just fry you if I decide to nominate that sunrise?

Great moose pics my friend.

LOL, actually I think the one I mis-posted (it was my first test pic with my new polarizer) is a nicer picture then the one I tried to post.

Thank you for the compliment my friend.  I haven't seen very many moose here this winter, so it was a pleasant surprise so see them out the window this afternoon.   While the lighting wasn't ideal, I am still happy with the captures I got.

Here is another of the mama moose.  The top of the bird house is about 8' off the ground for reference.

This little guy tried to fly through our picture window, i think to get our cats.  I'm glad he didn't break his neck, and that he didn't break the window either.  He hit pretty hard, but at an angle.

He sat in that tree for a long time watching the house after his crash.  I think he is OK, and he flew off after in good time.

Miserable storm. 10” of snow followed by 3/4” rain, ending with freezing rain as the temps dropped to below zero. Spent two days outside doing storm cleanup.

Which meant I was outside when the clouds cleared & the sun shone through the ice on the trees — it was amazing! But how to capture it best?

My thought was depth of field — if I can keep a long sight line through the woods in focus, the effect should be dramatic. With the bright sunlight, I can use a smaller apeture. I’ve got a point & shoot Canon with a 65x optical zoom, so stood back from the edge of the woods about 50 yards & looked for the angles where I could see interesting colors glinting or where the sunlight created some unique effect.

Here are the best shots.

Thanks for your indulgence.

This old bear is endlessly fascinated by sparkling rainbows! Still looking for the piles of unicorn shit though
