When I was waiting with my kids for the bus a few mornings ago, I spotted this cool spider web that was covered with dew.  The web was hanging from some power lines at least 15-20 ft up in the air.  I was a little surprised that I could get a picture of it with my phone.

Then at the park we saw these:

I have two pictures to share. One is a black widow. The other is flies clustered in one area. Im not sure, but I think they are resting because it is so hot. I walked over, reached my hand out at them and they scattered in a cloud formation. Even yucky flies can be interesting sometimes. Insects are kind of my thing.....

Autumn is in full swing here, no snow yet but we've had a couple of hard freezes and the garden is done for the year.

Here is a pic of our pond in its full fall colors.

These are not the best photos I’ve taken, but it’s the first time I’ve ever come across a wheel bug (Arilus cristatus). It’s black color means that it has just recently molted.

Juthro,

have you ever considered painting?

the advantage painters have over photographers is they can make the image anything they want

which I guess is why somebody invented photoshop :)

anyway, my thinking being you're rich with landscape beauty but apparently short on sunshine. seems even when the days are long it's cloudy there. so if you could take the color of the stuff on land (in your pic) and add blue skies and the clouds of your choice you, I, we, would be on even footing with the landscape painters

I have your persistent urging to learn to thank for my continued efforts.   It has not been a very intuitive, or natural process for me, but I'm glad I've kept pecking away at it.  I've only got basic mastery over a couple of tasks, but even those few tools open up so many more possibilities that its almost unreal.

Anyway,  your mentorship and friendship is very valued to me, Pharmer, and I think it's important that I say thank you.

De Nada.  No point to anybody going through this crap alone.

There is NOTHING intuitive about PS. It needs to be reconstructed so that all the parts work together. As is it's a Rube Goldberg masterpiece.

rinse, repeat for every damned task you want to do in PS

@ Pharmer:   LOL, That is a great analogy of photoshop :)

I've always considered myself a pretty quick study, once I see a pattern or a trend I can generally understand a system well enough to make the rest of the learning easier.   Not so with PS.

Now if I could figure out why its leaving a horizontal line across my compiled pics.  Its about 1/4 the way down from the top the clouds pic, and a little higher in the mountain pic.  Its got something to do with the stacking of layers I'm sure, but I haven't figured out how to make it stop doing it yet.
