I love your amazing close up's, ElP !

The first fingers of winter are taking hold here... Plus an amorous young bull, and his prom date were hanging out in the back yard this morning.

This moose had a bad attitude.  It had ripped down our pea fence just a few minutes prior to it attacking this elderberry bush.  I'm guessing that he was pissed off about however he busted his antler.   It's still seems too early in the year for them to be shedding.    I looked around the yard, he didn't seem to have broken it off here.  I'm guessing he likely broke it fighting a bigger, meaner bull. :chucks:

Notice how his ears are laid back, the squinty eye, and the how hair on his hump is standing up.  These are all warning signs that the moose is highly agitated, and you probably shouldn't be this close taking pictures....  :weedpoke:

lol, yeah he's just a young bull.  One day he'll have a shovel where today he has only a garden trowel.

Snapped a few pics driving and this one was the only passable one.

Fall colors, front range (hard to see layers), suckers sitting in Friday traffic as I ride over them on the Dam, all of teeny Denver...
Get to go a constant speed with a view! Only thing slightly better was the train (minus it's inability to run on time or function).

Every moose is way bigger and stronger than any human.....Hell man a white tail deer will mess your day up......A MOOSE? Hahahaha......A BULL MOOSE in rut season??? Not only NO but HELL NO!

I learned my lesson long ago with a domestic bull incident.....in HIS pasture......

I am small, and slow (FYI chest waders are not appropriate foot gear for running), and soft, and maybe at some point WAS tasty but now I'm getting tough and bitter (from the culinary viewpoint).........

I/we are still here because of a big old brain and opposing thumbs.....

Along with our propensity to find interesting molecular structures and interact with them deliberately and with constructive volition......

And remembering that "how his ears are laid back, the squinty eye, and the how hair on his hump is standing up" WILL get your arse stomped to death......

And that it's just as "mean" to roast a turkey for a holiday meal as it is for a Kodiak Brown to make lunch of you in preparation for Alaska winter.......

Be careful up there and stick to poking the weed NOT moose's......just IMHO bro..........

That spider shot is incredible Pirana........

You're absolutely correct Arathu.   Moose are scary powerful, and can easily kill a human without much effort.  As a matter of fact moose cause more injuries, and deaths then all other wild game combined up here.   We had an old gal about a 1/2 mile from the house got trampled earlier this year when she got between a cow, and her yearling.   It was life threatening injuries, and they had to  life flight her to Anchorage due to the severity of the damage.

I should probably put a disclaimer on my pics that says you shouldn't try this at home, but the fact is that 80%+  of my pics are taken from my home.   The one of half-rack was snapped from a  safe elevated viewing platform (my back deck), about 1 or 2 steps outside of my kitchen door.  Notice how the camera angle is looking down at him.   That is somewhat telling, considering he is over 6' at the shoulder.  So why I was definitely pissing him off being outside and taking his picture (as the picture clearly shows), the picture is somewhat deceptive in how exposed to danger I actually was while taking it.

Through the use of a lot of zoom, and they way I crop, and edit pics, I am purposely trying to make it look like I was right on top of the moose.  So I will take any concern you have for my safety as a complement  to a picture well presented.   I'm much more likely to get in a bad situation with a moose by being surprised by one while doing chores around the property then when I'm actively taking pictures.

They obviously don't give a damn that you "own" property......hahaha I'm glad you don't think you're the moose whisperer and use appropriate technology and techniques......

Who is going to argue with HIM a bigger one? Yeah I'm sure. Grizzly maybe..... How'd Clint say it, "Man's gotta know his limitations"

Get and stay out of their way.....I know our elk are something to see out in the bush......but that's super rare for me...

For certain you'll have to use weapons if you try.....absolutely incredible animals....

lol, no snow today, but  without those clouds it's getting cold.  A low of 14F, and a high expected to be about 21F today.  (low of -10C, high of -6C for our Canadian friends).    Makes me happy we got the new furnace installed last year, hopefully our energy bill will be a bit lower this season.
