We stopped by the wildlife center for a bathroom visit, and I was able roll down the window and grab a few shots on the way through.

Thank you A :) That Raven followed us all the way through the wildlife center, and was talking to us almost the entire time.

As I said, I ran out of likes indeed, but the Ravens, Crows, and other corvidae are super smart critters...
As always very beautiful pictures in this thread from you and everyone...
Shared visions are cool stuff....

Love me some corvidae. Been trying to get accepted. They speak about humans.
We have them all and Magpies which is new to me.

The magpies, crows, and ravens are some of the few birds that stay here year round. Most of our other birds are migratory.

tried to get a better picture but not knowing what it is doesn't allow macro.
Little darkening and color correction. Crab, jumping, or yellow sac?

I like the creepy crawlies :)
I would call it a crab spider, but I don't know for sure.

Nice to see a spider pic during the winter!
Crab, jumping, or yellow sac?
My vote is for crab spider.

I feel the need to feed him and perhaps give it a name. It's the protector of my cacti/succulents.

Do not hug him or squeeze him.....but you could name him George.....

I went into Wally World today to get a few things, and even though I knew we were having supply issues I was a bit surprised to see the amount of empty shelves in the store. They had lots of Alaska grown carrots, and potatoes, and the bakery had plenty of fresh bread. Everything else was hit or miss, but more on this miss side.

Yea my panic shopping at 10pm wasn't too crazy. Still striking here.

Jeez Juthro...............
I'm going to quit complaining about tough as leather cuts of meat, and the price of anything "choice" or better.

It makes me happy that we've got the freezer, and the pantry well stocked. But makes me want to work harder to keep them that way. Though I think I need to be careful that images like the one I shared here don't cause the obsessive compulsive part of me to take too much control. Seeing empty store shelves on the scale that they currently are tends to make the hoarder/prepper side of me want to go into overdrive.
Thought that doesn't mean that those feelings, or the actions associated with them are unfounded, and I hope everyone has taken some steps to have at least some cushion to fall back on. A fairly cheap, and easy to store reserve is a 25lbs bag of dried beans, 20lbs of flour, salt, and some yeast. That's all the ingredients you need for beans, and French bread for quit some time, even if you didn't have much else to go with them. Don't forget to have the knowledge of how to cook them before you need them. Beans, and bread aren't hard to make, but they aren't instant freezer foods either.
It's also a good time to start thinking about planting your own victory garden. You don't need a huge garden to supplement your groceries, and the fresh food you grow yourself will always taste better then the stuff from the produce isle.

Our goverment announced some new regulations around the borders that are making people fearful that we will soon start to see similar supply issues. I hate to say it but those automated trucks are starting to sound like a good idea in a world where you can't get truck drivers anymore
Posted 20 January 2022 - 08:04 PM
I agree that we are all in the same boat here in North 'merica. Though IMHO, reevaluating the regulations on, and the pay for humans would give us all the truck drivers we need. I think those automated trucks are just a way for larger corporations to keep from having to cut into their profits by not having to pay things like fair wages, healthcare, and retirement for flesh and blood employees.
