So much for your morning coffee view of the pond I guess...................................
I'm guessing your arms get some pretty good muscle showing by winters end. I won't complain about mowing the lawn for quite awhile. Stay warm my friend.

I've got the arms for it, but my back doesn't like this kind of work no more, lol.
At the end of the month I've got to go in for some surgery on my wrist. The carpal tunnel I've been ignoring for 20 years has gotten pretty bad, and I cant feel anything in the end of my left pointer, or middle finger anymore. They say they can fix it, I hope they aren't lying. But my wife hopes the snow has let up by then, cuz I wont be doing any shoveling, or running the snow blower for a while, lol.
Thanks for the well wishes my friend.

The view from the house is a bit diminished ATM.......
I have to say that cabin fever is starting to take a solid hold on me this year. I'm ready for the snow to be gone, and to see something green.

No green here yet. Cat is going on 11 years old, had him for 7. He's annoying as hell and won't play and can't figure how to play with dog 7.5x his size.
I don't like outdoor cats and building a catio is pricy and crazy. So let's see how well shepard herds. I think I'd like her to retrieve him and bring him inside. Soft mouth.
If you don't speak cat. Tail up is equivalent of happy and friendly. I made a monster he won't STFU and yells all day. At least 45 mins is enough to tire him and dog out. They are best pals now.

Beautiful cat :) Our Siamese, also a constant talker, passed away the x-mas before last, she was 17 if I remember the math right.
I still miss her, I've got no one else here that will sing drinking songs with me when I'm deep in my cups. It was funny as hell, she would totally sing along with me. She looked just like Skippyjon Jones, lol, for those of you who might be familiar with the children's books (I used to read to school kids back when my wife was still an elementary teacher).
Enough reminiscing, please carry on :)

So our tenant called a couple of days ago and told us that the roof was making funny noises, and that the door to the trailer was stuck in the jam, and he couldn't get out. I think I spotted the problem....

Do you guys knock your roofs?

Do you guys knock your roofs?
Sorry, but I'm not familiar with that terminology. If you have access from the ground you can get a snow rake to bring some of that down, but in this case that wasn't really an option, so it had to be shoveled, and pushed from above on the roof.
I hired the roof work out to one of the neighbors boys. Once we got the snow load off, the door opened and closed again. The only apparent damage was a vent for the furnace that got ripped off by the snow. It was an easy fix.

Sorry, the only time I've heard that wording involved dropping inert devices on Palestinian houses as a warning for an impending missile attack by Israel. I was pretty sure that wasn't what you were getting at, lol. Though in afterthought, it would probably have worked :)
You must forgive me, for I am easily confused, and distracted, lol.

This is not my photo, but I wanted to share it. I got it from the Anchorage Daily News
This is just outside of Anchorage, and it happened just before midnight last Thursday. There are over 100 houses that are still cut off from the road system, and over a 100 yards of road under 60 to 80' of snow. Luckily no houses were destroyed, and no one was injured. The folks that are trapped above the avalanche are only able to leave on a foot trail that is several miles long to a trail head parking lot. Emergency aid can be provided by helicopter, but so far that's the only options. They have no estimate as to when they will get it cleared and there is still substantial amounts of snow that may cause another avalanche.

At first glance that picture didn’t look too bad Juthro, especially on my phone, but zooming in and looking at the size of the buildings next to the snow you realize just how much there is. Sure glad nobody got hurt!
They let people back into the area last night, and are starting the snow removal today. They figure it will be at least 2 weeks to get the snow cleared, and they have to wait until it's cleared for the power company to go in and replace the poles that got destroyed, so a lot of the area is still without power.
Springtime in Alaska, there's never a dull moment :)
Here is an article from CNN, it's not as good as our local reporter, but you don't need a paid account for CNN. https://www.cnn.com/...rder/index.html
